This may be more entertaining than we think. It'll be like those half-court shots during half-time at a basketball game. The whole crowd knows this guy isnt an athlete and we all want him to make money. Gives us SOMETHING to cheer for
Not sure if any of you listen to NFL Stock Exchange pod but its pretty good. They do a little miniseries on, "How to fix X team?" and for their first fix X team of the year they are doing the Jets. Good listen. Love the work CR and Trevor do
Just don't think he makes good choices: 1. wasted out first TWO #1 picks--Becton and Wilson--Save 2022 all his drafts have been bad 2. For some reason GREATLY overpays for retread worthless left tackles--Brown and Smith 3. No idea that kicker is important--year 1 he goes w a rookie free agent, finally cuts him and adds another rookie free agent, then cuts him after 1 week. Year 5 keeps Zuerlien after a bad preseason and let's him cost us not 1, not 2, but 3 games. 4. Trades high pick for Reddick and gets squat in return 5. Drafts safeties to play linebacker (???) 6. drafts RBs back to back while ignoring other needs 7. Currently has the jets as an OLD, OVERPAID team which will in cap hell for the next 2 years After 2024 get rid of Douglas
I’m just so fucking glad we don’t have Jaxon Smith-Njigba. I’d really hate to have two good young receivers.
or bowers, really glad we drafted a project tackle instead, who’s so bad he can’t even crack this shit offensive line we have. In other news Sam Darnold is killing it again today, amazing that joes d’s first move was to give up on Sam darnold to draft the amazing Zack Milfson, shows what a great talent evaluator this man is
Costello in the NY Post yesterday described Douglas and Saleh as "very close" that's the 1st time I've ever seen someone in the media say that and it doesn't really line up. Joe Douglas says Jets 'frustration' starts with him
Well I think that article said we are 30-62 under JD We’ll see how the rest of the season goes, because if we somehow miraculously go on a run and make the playoffs, that is a very different narrative than what we’ve seen so far, which is 3-6 right in line with the last 6 years of crap we’ve seen. I don’t think this is a playoff team…we do too many stupid things, we don’t play consistently, and our offensive coaching is bottom of the league territory. Good teams don’t play like we do. So to me, playoffs are a pipe dream. And if indeed that’s how it goes, I’m guessing JD is gone. End of contract. He wanted a long term deal because he knew this was not a quick fix, and he got 6 years. It hasn’t worked. He’s had some good moments and one great draft class but overall his drafts have not been great and he’s had 2 first round busts in Becton and Zach. He’s had a mixed track record with free agents, probably more bad than good at this point. He has failed in his stated goal of building a great OL…he’s tried using high draft picks (Becton, AVT, Olu) and yet our line still sucks. Tomlinson was a bad use of a lot of money. Smith looks like a shell of his former self. Just not good. I do think the overall talent is better than it was when he inherited the team, but it’s not good enough to win with so far. I have no issue cleaning house…we already fired the coach. GM is next and it’s not looking good for him unless we rip off a bunch of wins (doubtful). But as much as his record deserves to get him gone, I have so little faith in Woody being able to hire a competent GM and HC that I seriously worry that the next guy will be no better than JD, and could be much worse. Such a shit place to be…but that’s the Jets
Here's a scary thought. Woody might be headed back to the UK which will leave his braindead little brother Chris as shot caller. Last time that happened, we wound up with Gase.
I think the problem is more Woody. He seems to constantly have his paws over everything. The writing seems to be on the wall for Joe Douglas at this point unless there is some magical turnaround.
Definitely possible but it takes a while for these ambassadors to get nominated and then confirmed by the Senate. It could like next summer or fall so that should give Woody time enough to hire a new GM & HC before he hands off the team It sounds like a great time to just sell the team though. Lets all dream about that
You guys do realize that cell phones and the internet with international calling exists right? Gase was a dreadful decision by all accounts but the thought process that Woody had no input because he met Gase on a Zoom call in interviews rather than in person is silly.
We will have a new GM and and coach in January or mid Feb the latest. Woody will still be here by then.
But he was so busy tackling those daunting ambassador duties in war-torn London. Who has time for a multi billion dollar sports franchise in the face of that? You don't collect honey from the queen's garden without getting your hands dirty. Or... you know... sticky.
