He would have to be crazy to. NFL teams have been a great hedge against inflation for decades all while the sport is still growing.
You really had to toss salt into my wounds, didn't you. Wait, are you serious? No one names their kid "Brick" outside the TV show "The Middle." Right? Say it isn't so!!!
EXACTLY what I did verbatim in 2016 - I apparently gave the impression that I'm still a season ticket holder. Nuh uh. Not in a long time and I haven't even been back to the stadium for a game since, even though people have offered to pay for a ticket. Doesn't mean I'm not sympathetic to the people who are still being anally violated.
I had seasons from '79 to '14. It became too expensive, but ultimately MetLife Stadium drove me out. I had six seats and could not pay for six PSL's, so upstairs I went. The experience getting in and out with a much worse game view I had had for so many years killed it for me. Thankfully I never had to deal with ticket invoices in the season prior. That would make me insane. The money was being paid around tax time in my years of paying it. What are the actual ticket price increase now? Any specific examples? I believe the Jets now fully expect most PSL owners to bail. They got the money needed from them to build the stadium. The theft is complete. It's disgusting. I'm surprised the legality of being able to raise ticket prices without recourse due to the PSL purchase has yet to be successfully challenged in court. I can think of no other consumer protection crime like it TBH. Maybe vacation timeshare contracts? And it's not just Woody. It's the NFL. Woody and the Maras were congratulated by Goodell for their heist by getting a Super Bowl. What we needed was a roof. What's comical to me is that Giants fans have been victimized just as much but are too dumb or at least just slow to realize it. Big Blue pride haha. OK rant over. I don't mean to poke fun at current ticket holders. I went to over 300 games and had great times. I understand the addiction. I am only now getting accustomed to not being there myself.
out of curiosity (just to see how it compares to UK soccer prices) how much is a season ticket these days for a "decent" part of the stadium?
I’ve posted this a couple times but my dad and uncle split season tickets from the early 90’s up until they built MetLife. They dropped them because my dad was sick, I was going off to college and my uncle was starting a family. I get why people bought season tickets back in the day when there were a lot more hoops to jump through to get tickets. Internet ticket sales weren’t really a thing, getting tickets on short notice meant getting the actual physical tickets in some way or form and all that jazz. Now you can go to games probably below market value with how shitty the Jets normally are and buy the tickets online very easily. Maybe you sit in a slightly different seat but I’m sure you can find the same section. You don’t buy preseason that you probably won’t go to. You can skip out on December games when it was 12 degrees out and they’re 4-11 and don’t run into issues getting rid of your tickets for some money if you can’t go. What are the advantages to having season tickets? I only see one if you are buying for a perpetually good franchise that produces a good playoff team every year and ticket prices are expensive to pick and choose or you have postseason options firsthand.
I don’t live in NY so season tickets are not a thing for me, but I do try and get to a few games each year, and I just buy tickets online like the day before the game or so…has worked great every single time. Personally, even had I been there at the time, I don’t think I’d have ponied up for PSL bullshit…the idea that they charge you for the right to give them more money is a bit insane to me, and that would have cinched it for me. But the problem is, I don’t know how much of their income comes from season tickets…the clearest message to Woody would be to stop buying them and force him to build a winner to get fans back, but honestly I’m not sure that would even move the needle for him. The team makes so much from the shared broadcasting revenue streams, and then parking and concessions and such, that I wonder how big a piece of the pie the actual season tix really are. I’m sure they would care if the sales numbers went down year after year, but I don’t know how much.
But then he goes out and rents a Tebow, Favre or Rodgers and everybody throws money at him again. Fear of missing out!
My tickets went up 9.67%. I told my Jets Rep to take me off Auto Renewal and lets see how the next three games go. Funny but every year I have to ask them to take me off Auto Renewal. I'll probably buy them to sell and hopefully get close to face value next year. I know I won't get anything for the Pre Season games we are forced to buy. I'll keep the parking (which did not have a price increase) just so I can attend the tailgate...
Woody needs more money, so be sure to buy those tickets. New Coach next year and more aging mercaneries coming here to collect one last paycheck! After 6 years of failing this is the year Joe D finally fixes that offensive line to. Super bowl bound!
