Hope some of you are relax and calm now. Jesus. Sure we re all frustrated and have been for years. We’re 1-1 with a key game vs. the Hated Patriots. It s a long season and whether you have faith in this team or not or whether it’s garbage, fine but just try to enjoy the games as we try to get in the playoffs.
I was feeling the exact same way watching yesterday! That first half was awful…and had the game continued that way, I was angry enough to want to just fucking fire Saleh and his crew like today. Hot garbage, and it was hard to watch. That being said, we ended up winning, and while it was ugly and gives me little confidence that we are a playoff team, there were a couple thoughts that went through my head. 1. I actually love what they did with Hall and Allen. Love it. Going with a 1-2 punch was a great coaching decision that I will give them credit for. It sure felt like Allen is pretty dangerous in his own right, and it seemed like it helped keep Breece fresh also. This game on offense was all about those two backs, and if they can play like this consistently, that will reap rewards…I especially liked seeing them both on the field at once. 2. Honestly, I thought the offense would come out of the gate faster than we have, and we’ve seen way too many 3 and outs in these first two games…so clearly we still need time to jell. Still, watching AR is such a breath of fresh air…like we actually have a QB who knows how to play this game. His arm looks strong, but it’s his head…changing plays, hitting guys in stride, knowing where to go with the ball…just basic shit we haven’t seen in so many years. 3. Good to get Williams his first catch, and hopefully he starts playing and contributing more…I’d rather see Lazard as WR3 instead of WR2. 4. Good to see McD show up…losing JJ hurts bad, and while I haven’t heard anything definitive yet, I’m assuming the worst with a torn Achilles and out for the year. Unfortunately, it will put pressure on JD to get something done with Reddick as Clemons is a backup and should not be starting. So unless some of these undrafted guys show up along with McD, we will suffer. 5. Need Q to step up and be the all-pro he is. Seems like he’s been pretty invisible through two games…or at least he hasn’t made many splash impact plays. Without JJ especially, he needs to step up. 6. Hackett sucks. No two ways about it. While above I do give the coaches credit in figuring out how to use 2 good backs, his playcalling still sucks ass, and as we’ve seen before like last year, if not for AR changing plays or just being the great QB he has been, Hackett just sucks. Too many run, run, pass on third and long yesterday. Or at least it sure felt that way. 7. The defense looks like a shell of itself so far through two games, and that is unexpected. As much as Huff was really just a pass rusher and JFM seemed to be a penalty machine at the exact wrong times, it’s clear we miss those guys as our DL has not played as well as it has in the past. Same for the entire D. It’s one thing to lose to the Niners on the road…it’s quite another to struggle with the Titans and their mistake prone 2nd year QB. Granted the Titans have a really good WR group (and we did manage to keep Hopkins from making any real impact), it really came down to Levis doing another stupid play or two…if they had a decent QB they probably win that game. So as much as the offense needs to jell…feels like the defense does as well. Anyway…those were some of the things going through my head….I like the win and we needed it BADLY. More so than any week 2 game really should. And I know its a long season and we’ll need time to really come together, but honestly I was expecting better this year…not saying I expected a W in SF, but I for sure didn’t expect to get blown out and dominated that way, and then I was hoping to see a more dominant performance at Tennessee yesterday. Oh well…on to week 3 in what sure feels like a must win against NE, if only to exorcise that demon of the past. I don’t think that game will be easy by any means…they can run the ball down our throat, and our D has struggled to get off the field a lot so far, and Brissett is not a terrible QB…not electric by any means but he’s typically smart with the ball and can make the key throws. Our D will be tested. So will be an important game to win
I bought 3 t shirts at the jets shop online, for the first jets purchase probably since 2006. Bought them Sunday, were said to arrive Tuesday wed last week. They are out for delivery today 8 days later , because they used the cheapest, slowest mail option available. Cheap bastards
It is amazing watching the creativity of some of these offenses and then watching the Jets. It’s like you can call out when it’s going to be a run play every time. Like you said though, he does get credit for the two runningback thing though. I think reality set in after week one that we’re pretty short on talented receiving options right now.
They are on the back of a yak in the Himalayas right now. You can watch your package's progress on the YakTrack App. iOS only, I'm afraid.
Well stated. I've been waiting for the NFL to revert back to the past by to using two RB's together at times. Our situation can be the perfect pairing. Allen can be the lead guy acting as a FB ahead of Breece. Both can catch the football, so there's a lot that can be done. We are starting to see it. Could be special. Aaron won't let Hackett fuck that up. You mention Q, but his play has been more than made up for by his brother, who is making Joe Douglas look like a genius. He's a hell of a linebacker. And then we have Sauce. We all love Sauce, but I kinda feel like we loved him too fast. I don't see him being worth the incredible deal we all expect him to get. Did Revis spoil me? Maybe. Just seems to be too early to anoint him as an all-time great. Am I wrong? I feel like players with cool nicknames get overrated fast since we like using the one word nickname. Call me crazy. It's sort of like the love "Bam" Knight got for just being called "Bam". One or two of you will understand what I'm trying to say.
1995? Shit, junior. You missed out on some serious bags of garbage. Sent from my SM-F956U1 using Tapatalk
I fell you... My take on Sauce...hell, let's include the rest of the team as well. Sauce looks gassed right before half-time. The entire team does. Hell, HALF the NFL does. Sauce will be fine. He'll be back to his pass knocking down (turn your fuckin' head kid and pick one of those!) no tackling self by game 4. Then, whatever receiver he's covering will disappear from the game! The NFL has a problem. They bullshitted away a pre-season game for a 17th regular season game but, in return, have ensured that we the fans do not see REAL NFL Football until game 5. I've heard rumors that they want to knock off a 2nd pre-season game and introduce an 18th regular season game. They do that and they may as well play flag football for the first quarter of the season. People are not going to pay a massive premium to watch 4 full pre-season games that the NFL calls regular season games. Insult to injury, more guys are incurring catastrophic injuries early in the season! They simply aren't prepared to play "real" tackle football for the first 3 or 4 weeks of the season because they all wear their "diapers" in training camp. Hopefully they correct that but I hold out little hope.
Even if we stop going to the games the Woodys will never sell, look at the Wilpon's they held us hostage forever and it only took them going nearly bankrupt for them to sell.
