I disagree. You can discipline them by chewing them out in the lockeroom with the entire team, that and benching them, that holds them accountable. RS did none of it. You don’t see Reid or Brady ot BB or any other great HC or QB do that much detailed talking of the missed play using players name in front of the media. Keep airing our dirty laundry in front of the media does nothing. Discipline the player in private, praise him in public.
You know, I didn't need Saleh to chew anyone out publicly. There are some who can and others who can't. My problem with Saleh was there simply seemed zero accountability across the board. If you are not going to get in the grill of these guys in the game then you have GOT to handle them in practice! The Penalties were a serious problem. In fact, 2 of the teams losses, this year, can be tied directly to penalties wiping out scores. Being near the top of the most penalized teams is NOT a statistic that I find favorable. Bob Saleh's downfall was he wanted to be these player's friend and not the coach. Couple that with the ridiculous loyalty he had to some of the coaches. He's learning a hard lesson now. If you don't hold your coaches accountable then the owner will hold the HC accountable and this is where we are.
