The safety had an angle but Hall helped him out by not changing it. Cut inside and use the field. The biggest thing though? Don't avoid contact

this is the old Breece Hall who cuts inside and does everything he can to score. The 2024 version we saw last night glides on the sideline and allows himself to get softly pushed out of bounds

I think the kid still has the injury he suffered in the back of his mind.. That's why he's not really going 100% but instead, taking the Sauce Gardner finesse route. Looking a lot like Thomas Jones this year. One hit and done. #BusinessDecision.

Would love to see how his coaches are talking to him about that and his style of play. And know he's viewing it.

I'm not mad enough to trade him though. Come on. He's been so good when on the field. I want a bigger sample size before thinking of getting rid of him. I do want to keep seeing more of Allem though

I agree--don't know if you were around in the early days of Doc Gooden. As he started his 3rd year (1986) with the Mets, he stopped throwing so hard and spoke honestly about it--he wanted to prolong his career. Although very good, he was never the same which was simply amazing in 1984/5.

Breece hasn't been playing the game with his mind, he's just reacting to the physical. There were 2 times he could and should have scored, but didn't due to lack of situational awareness. I honestly don't see this dude on the team next year. Probably best to trade him for a haul and then use some of that haul to draft another RB to pair with Allen.

And yeah, the second I saw he got downed at the 2, I knew from past experience that the Jets would fail to score. I knew instantly it would be 3 points max, because this team is completely incompetent within the 5 and this hasn't changed. They can only score on chunk plays, but getting 2 yards is too much to ask.

He could be playing with an injury that is slowing him down. But maybe not.

Belicheck or Parcells wouldn't put up with lack of effort.

Could be - a friend's nephew is a pitcher who two years ago was the top guy in triple A and spent a few games in a major league bullpen but I don't think he ever got to the mound. The following season in spring training he ended up with shoulder problems. When rest and therapy didn't work he had shoulder surgery by a top doctor which went perfectly; he took his time in rehab and was given the green light 100% but couldn't get his fastball within 5 - 8 mph of his previous speed. The club now has him seeing a sports psychology doc because all the medical people say he should be as good or better than before the surgery.

I wonder if the Jets would do the same thing?

What’s the difference from last year though? He didn’t look apprehensive at all.

He didn't look like he was thinking about the injury last season.

The play calls were just as bad and he had Zach instead of Rodgers. He also didn't have 2 rookie RBs licking their chops for his reps.

To me I don't think it is lack of effort, he is just making wrong decisions. There was another bad decision where I was very mad at him - that drop on the first drive where it looked like we may score a TD. The pass was perfect but instead of going with both hands he tried to make a one handed catch. It's like he has gotten dumber. I am not sure why. Perhaps being under Hack for two off seasons and a year+ in season is starting to rub off. Hopefully with Hack demoted Breece can rediscover himself.

It's concerning for sure. Remember when Leon Washington broke his femur? The Jets dogged him after the injury and then he went to Seattle and lit it up. Of course age and wear and tear tempered that soon enough, but the mental part obviously didn't get to him.

Something is off here, but in a way, I'm not sure how or why people expect players to be who they were prior. That being said, his judgment seems like its gotten worse.

After they drafted Allen, he's probably realizing he may be the "odd man out" when it's time to re-up the 2022 class and may be making "business decisions" (although that's a double edged sword)
