Saleh's D was pretty solid. As a D coach. His team seemed under-prepared offensively.

I would go on but if this is getting political then I'm out.

Where does he give those talks? Is there a schedule somewhere or do we just go knock on his door and say "wassup?"

Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while. I just wish had the balls to fire Saleh and entire offensive staff in the offseason. Oh well, what could have been... At least we are a little better off today than 2 days ago.

Btw, @Kronoking , as I predicted Brick demoted Hack too. So, we can put conspiracy theory of Rodgers firing Saleh for that reason to rest. Now we got both Saleh and Hack out of their roles, which is a positive. If only Downing were any good, it would be amazing... Hopefully baby steps forward though.

Absolutely agree. Salah was a terrible head coach w a terrible record. He instilled ZERO discipline on a team which showed w all the penalties.
He was a cheerleader coach like Rex Ryan who never grabbed a facemask in his life and chewed a player out.
He had three plus years and gave us 20-36 record.
His parting written statement to the players included a phrase that he "loves each and every one of you." My opinion only, but NFL coaches should LEAD, not love, their players.
Coaches who really try to befriend players usually have losing records. The Packer players hated coach Lombardi, but the super bowl trophy is named for him.

Little tid-bit…the media keeps saying Saleh’s record is 20-36.

    It’s not.

    It’s 19-36

There was one game in 2019 where Saleh didn’t coach and Middleton (the TE Coach I believe) served as HC for that game and won it.

Media just being lazy…yes, the record under his tenure is 20-36, but one of those wins he didn’t coach.

No biggie I know but man it just fucking bugs me.

As bad as 20-36 is…he’s even worse!!

Saleh was still the head coach and I am sure was involved all week. So he gets the W

How much input do we think Belicheat had with the offense? Eeverybody knows the D was his area.

How much input in the D do you think the Niners HC when Saqleh was there?

Seems to me these things are not infrequently delegated.

Bellicheck had an incredible amount of involvement on offense. He sat with Brady watching film every week and gave a defensive AND offensive viewpoint to the opponent. To me, a DC is probably an even better option to help a young offense IF, and only if, that DC is willing to input what he knows the D will do based on the offensive looks. Same on the other side of the ball honestly.

Yes, Belli used his encyclopedic knowledge of defense and football in general to prepare his O for a range of situations they could encounter.

I don’t think we’ve had a coach with such a depth of knowledge since Mangini?

Regardless, you’re right that this is what a defensive minded HC should be doing with their offense, as opposed to entirely delegating the task.

I'll admit I was more patient with Saleh than most here. Seemed like he was not long for this franchise and I accepted, at long last, you guys were right he wasn't going to turn it around here. But Considering the move on Hackett that happened anyway I have to wonder if we still wouldn't have been better off making the move after the season.

If you were going to shake the offensive play calling why not at least have a stable situation every where else on the staff?

What's with all the wax poetic nostalgia for Mangini?!? 2006 was fun, but does anyone not remember the debacle of everything else he did?

We ran his ass out of town and rightfully so at the time--he turned into a psychodictator and we were losing. Bad combo.

So if Bellichek comes out of retirement to Coach this Team it will be like a combo of the second coming of the Lord and Lazarus raised from the dead

A guy you normally just hate but you would love to have on your side

No problem with discipline with a GOAT HC

I know I am just dreaming but life can be strange

    Valid question

But I think the reasoning and rationale is that there are really two issues here:

    1. The HC seems to have lost the team…players openly talking about accountability, the lack of discipline, the mounting stupid penalties, etc.
    2. The offense has been WAY underperforming based on the talent on hand

And honestly issue 1 may even be a bigger problem than issue 2. So while demoting Hackett helps address issue 2, that alone wouldn’t help issue 1. Which is why I think they fired Saleh…once a coach loses the team I don’t think they get it back…it was only going to get worse.

    My two cents…

Losing the games is what cost Saleh his job.

It’s clear now that it had to do with Hackett

Joe Douglas wanted him demoted, Saleh refused. Douglas bitched to Woody and Woody did the dirty work for him
