Fine for you if you want the team to need to fire someone. I prefer to look forward to the next hiring with hope for the future.
I voted status quo. Until the numb nut, who is calling this offense, is gone, I don't see a bright ending to the season. HOWEVER, I would LOVE to be wrong! Who knows... Hackett HAS to realize this is it. This is his LAST chance to be a coach of any significance in the NFL. If you can't win with this much talent on offense and a defense ranked in the top 5 then when can you?
Optimistic? Sure..why not ? I am tired of the Darkness the cynicism uh..on second thought ask me that question after MNF and a rebound Jet victory that Ulbricht better provide lol But in the long game I would throw my lot in with Revision Gimme a younger offensive minded Coach asap Mr Woody!
I still maintain that the collective wisdom on this board FAR outweighs Woody and his bunch of idiots. I don’t think there was ANYBODY here who was happy to hear we hired Hackett…there may be some but my recollection is that most here hated it. Same for Gase…I don’t recall ANYONE standing up and saying Man what a GREAT hire! Seriously…Woody tried to hire Korn Ferry, he tried to rely on fucking idiot Casserly, etc. This time, Woody…just ask this board who to hire and do that! Guaranteed the results will be better than whatever that fucking imbecile can think of. Unbelievable… Longest playoff drought in all the major sports, mostly because of a putrid offense, and he has not clue what to do. He should have fucking fired Hackett along with Saleh.
I had a quick look back at the announcement thread - there were one or two that seemed OK with it (I won't name and shame!) but the vast majority were either very negative or taking it as a sign Rodgers must be coming
As I ponder the responses for this poll, aren't options "NO" and "NO DIFFERENCE" really the same thing?
Woody Johnson is the problem. As long he is the owner, we will never win it all. Worst owner in New York sports. Sent from my SM-S908U using Tapatalk
Every one of these posts mention the root cause of the O, being Hackett and I agree but he is not the PC anylonger and by what I have read his imput will be miminual. He is the OC in name only, Now, while Downing (sp) OC record is better he is no savant but lets step back a minute. You have the OC (now) and OL coach who worked together and while their O was middle of the pack, what poster wouldn't take that after the last few games. We have a new HC that is no nonsense and will hold coaches and players accountable... so lets see if they can muster any kind of consistency, cut down on the penalities and actually win some Effin games. Like CC, I been here to effin long to view things through green colored glasses... Just win and stop all the other BS, noise or whatever...
Agreed although it's very rare that this move is successful considering the entire staff is Saleh's. When the news broke i thought that maybe Woody had something like that lined up, but alas, no. I'm interested to see what happens now, but until then, it's "No Difference" for me.
The only time I can remember that happening is the bizarre hiring of Jeff Saturday with the Colts which was a 1-7 disaster when they were only 3-5-1 and in shouting distance with a good second half. I don’t think hiring a coach mid season that’s not on the staff would ever work really. Theres no time to install anything including culture.
Let's just assume for the moment that Woody Johnson is a dummy who constantly spews nonsense each summer about how bright the future will be - if he is the dummy, what do we call those who hop on his Irrational Exuberance Tour year after year only to be proven wrong when the season starts? Some of them seem to have finally fallen off the bandwagon and out of this universe while those they harped on for being "haters" continue to plod along the tougher path. In response to your question about what his move this week accomplishes, at least we know he is aware the team stinks and has finally shown an early indication he wants to do something about it. Kind of like Leon Hess and his very short bucket list. (Of course Hess was 80 when he made his famous comments as reason for firing Pete Carroll to bring in Rich Kotite.) There is now a chance that this time that change will root then grow into something better. The alternative, of course, was to do absolutely nothing once again and not start contemplating even a shot at improvement until January. Tell us what you think has been lost by making an early change to the moribund status quo - it's like you're saying "nothing works, so let's keep it the same."
I voted indifferent. I'm more optimistic about the news Hackett has been stripped of his playcalling duties.
There will still be a ton of penalties and the offense will still play like garbage. You can't, in a span of a couple of days, get undisciplined people to all of a sudden start playing disciplined football. The Bills will inevitably get their "get right" game against us Monday night and not look back on their way to an almost uncontested division title.
