I’d like to add Helene in western North Carolina to this as well. My family is safe but they were about 40 miles from the impact zone and they have firsthand accounts of seeing/hearing of the complete and utter devastation. I’m talking lots of towns basically wiped off the map.

Pretty sad stuff. Stay safe down in Florida folks.

My folks live across the street from each other in Bradenton. Mom is in a memory care facility and Dad is in independent living. I came up from the Keys to stay with him and see mom. I want to make sure they are safe but man, we are about to take a direct hit. It's pretty scary.

Im in St. Aug... and already dealing with flooding rain thanks to the ground being saturated the past month... been up since 4am when outband squall line was parked on us. Been playing hurricane Cross-fit most of the day tryiong to mitigate flooding (clearing swales, digging water paths, cleaning out the sump pump).... a few beers after that and I need a nap
Tonights going to be interesting... LETS GO METS (hopefully we have power to watch

Good luck to the peeps on the Gulf!

Thanks man. Both buildings are built to sustain a Cat 4 hit but you never know. Plus, the water surge is the other variant.

Good luck everyone. These things are scary as hell.

I’ve never experienced a hurricane but last summer we had what’s called a microburst hit my neighborhood. They said the winds hit at around 100mph which destroyed trees, fences, roofs, and left us without power for about 5 days. My car was hit by a branch and impaled. That branch actually split the door interior and wedged right between it. 2 more branches on the other side buried themselves about a foot into the ground. Amazingly no casualties that day.

    Stay safe everyone.

Ditto the thoughts and prayers to those in Florida. I'm now in SE Georgia and really questioning my move from Colorado (although drought, forest fires, and cold winters and snow had become too much). I think Milton is going to pass us by for the most part, but they said that about Debbie and Helene and we saw 1000 year floods and lost power for a week so who knows? I hope it heads well out to sea and spares all these areas that have been hammered so far. When the impact zone is so huge there's very few places to run to escape, even when told to evacuate. Mother Nature is really making a statement.

    Be safe all!
