And yes I know "Hope" is a dangerous thing and "Hope" can get you killed.

I dislike Woody as an owner and I dislike Joe Douglas as a GM. But above all, I hated Saleh and his ruh ruh cheerleader personality and his lack of X's and O's on offense. This was a delayed firing. Wish it happened last year and we started season with another HC but water under the bridge. It finally happened.

I now have a more positive outlook towards rest of the season. I just want playoffs. 14 years of playoff draught has to end this year. With Saleh gone, I have hope. What do you guys say?

I'm glad Saleh is gone, but Hackett is still here and we are still the Same Old Jets until we aren't.

I voted "no difference." Not because I didn't want Saleh gone, but because I wanted him replaced with a known-quanity outside-the-building coach. Rex or Vrabel or similar. And I definitely wanted Hackett gone and that doesn't look like it is happening.

Just remember, the organization didn't change, just the coach, this is the Jets, not a normal team.

Too early to have started smoking or drinking, so no optimism

I think there is more reason for hope now.

If our new coach can cut the penalties in half and stop us from blowing time outs to avoid delay of game penalties we are instantly a better team.

The biggest thing we have going for us is that the AFC East is weak.

It is possible that the offense will do better as these guys continue to gel with a new HC.

Rex went to the AFC Championship twice with the worst QB in the league. I'd love to see what he could do with a HOF QB. Plus the Jets was Rex's dream job. He would crawl over broken glass to stay here for the rest of his life.

I do have hope but they can still make the changes IMO need to complete this.

I would keep Ulbrich at DC and bring in a new voice of leadership to set the tone (Rex Ryan or Pete Carrol). Fire Hackett as well, obviously.

It would be a one season move but I do think one of them would take the opportunity to coach this team. I fear the defense will take a hit now with Ulbrich having more responsibilities and Saleh not there. If Ulbrich can stay at D/C, I think it would be much better. I do think there is time for this to still happen as the first step was to fire Saleh which they did. The next step is to make phone calls. I would even take Vrabel however I don't think he would want to jump on this mess while Rex or Carrol probably would.

Weeb retired in 1973. This franchise has been trying to fire their way back to a championship since they dumped Charley Winner in 1975.

Best of luck to them. Woody is going to hire another idiot just like the last 6 idiots he hired.

Renewed hope for sure, we just fired the worst coach in Jets history, If Ulbrich is any good we will make the playoffs.

No. No renewed hope, just more hopelessness. When does a team who fires the head coach mid season EVER win it all? Answer: they don't and neither will this team.
This is not a good situation at all and should have been handled in the off season. The OC should have been replaced then as well. All this shows is that a HUGE mistake was made by starting the season with Saleh as a head coach.

This is all part of how the Jets run things. Everything is a shit show ALL THE TIME with the exception of a couple years with Parcells and even he underachieved here. Rex had 2 good seasons, but that was still a circus. Goddamn this fucking pathetic excuse of a franchise.

I think saleh needed to go, but I also think he was a fall guy, and Hackett needs to go too. I like ulbrich, so I do have hope for him as hc.

It's no wonder the Jets and Johnson get away with this horseshit every year. No offense but Saleh isn't/wasn't even close to the biggest problem with the current franchise. That would be Hackett in terms of coaching and Douglas in terms of hiring a scrub like Hackett. I know, I know, it's on Rodgers because that's his buddy but all personnel decisions fall with the GM and in the Jets case, Woody Johnson. That's the real problem and this firing changes nothing. It's a band-aid on a huge gaping hole.

I voted for no difference. One main reason is Woody Johnson is still the owner of this team. He is delusional and inept on how to run a football team. He's clueless about football. All he cares about is the money and bad teams are cash cows.

Hackett needs to go also but you know that won't happen because Woody has basically given control to AA Ron a QB that I, as a die hard Jets fan, never wanted here.

Rodgers has ruined this team because our owner was all giddy on getting a 40 year old to win a championship.

One thing for sure. I'm glad that Woody is wasting all this money on trying to buy a championship. He's such a loser.

I feel the same way I always have about this season - like we're in purgatory.

We know Rodgers is a bandaid. We know a rebuild is in the not-too-distant future. It's a weird feeling. I'm excited about our potential with Rodgers, but we're just such a reliably stupid organization that it's hard to have much optimism beyond that.

We're the organization that let a lame duck Maccagnan run one final draft before canning him immediately after. It made less than zero sense.

We should have fired Saleh and Hackett after last year. It was clear to anyone with eyeballs. Yeah, Rodgers getting hurt effectively ended the season, but it was crystal clear that our HC and OC were major problems. Instead, we inexplicably kept them and missed out on some seriously good HC candidates.

Don't get me started on Bowers/Fashanu either.

We absolutely must hire a talented young OC as our next HC. If we do anything else I'll be extremely pessimistic about our future.

Why would this give anyone hope?

This is a Woody decision based on his 25 years of failure as the owner. How does firing Saleh make the offense better?

woody truly thinks firing Saleh will fix everything moving forward. The guy Is a bum when it comes to football.

    Hopeā€¦ lol
