The Gulf "Loop Current" (which it cruised rt over) is jet fuel for these storms...

Thanks for the offer but they haven't gotten down there yet this fall. Their place may be okay because they are about five feet above the level of the road and their downstairs is limited to an entry, storage and garage.

I-40 nc/tn line. Stuff like this all throughout the region. They said yesterday, consider all roads in western nc closed.

We’re taking our yearly fall trip up there end of Oct. afraid we’re gonna see some pretty heartbreaking stuff.

Yep, just saw that, rain is due to start tomorrow well before it hits which means ground will be saturated and trees will be coming down easy.

Have a bunch of friends already lost everything, one friend was out on AMI seeing what was left of the business and turned a corner and found a body, it's been fucked around here like a lot of places.

I know many of you are better at reading the models than I am, so wondering what you are thinking about the strength of Milton and if the track is going to stay pretty true to what they are showing. I'm about 8 miles south of the mouth of Tampa Bay and 1 mile north of the Manatee River.

I think the stronger the storm gets, the further north it goes. It’s aimed at the Tampa area now, but my guess is that it jogs a little north, which would suck for where ever it hits, but would make a huge difference in surge for the Bay Area

Yeah, going to suck wherever it hits but Manatee, and Pinellas are quite a bit more populated on the coast. Going north, Pasco and south Hernando not quite as many people right on the coast, then north Hernando on up for a bit there are large preserve areas along the coast, still some houses but not near as populated so would not affect near as many but of course they just got hit hard 10 days ago. No good track I guess

My daughter was telling me how much Debris was still on the side of the roads… so a surge etc would be just that much more dangerous . Hope if it has to be, it hits the least populated area

Thankfully there's a chance its weakening / sucking up dry air before landfall but I still got a bad feeling about this one....

Moving N puts COC into a less populated area, but increases surge into Tampa Bay.
Then crosses rt on top of me, rain up to 8-12" and 5' of surge (80 mph NE winds pushing water into the inlets ) (it's already raining hard here and ground / swales are fully saturated... wanted to enjoy a JETS morning but I'll probably be moving sandbags around after the game in the rain

Lots of variables with the cold front pushing down so it'll change 50 times so just prepare regardless

Well that video have me a little hope that it won't be quite as strong but still going to prepare for the worst.

I've already resigned myself to the fact I could lose everything, if it heads up Tampa Bay I am in that 15-20 mile zone just south of the eye wall at landfall. If anyone has time and wants to come buy about a 500 album collection of classic rock, come get it.

Better than being NE of the eye!

If you're not in a floodzone by the water you'll be ok. Just get everything off the ground asap... and get some plastic storage bins for those records!

If you want any flood mitigation tips, I've been through this too many times now.

    spray foam
Plumbers putty (under visqueen and sandbags)
    Quick dry caulk
Gorilla tape / flex seal tape

Yes, these make a MESS when it's time to clean up, but could mean the difference of minor remodel and a major one.. ok. I gotta get shit off the floor in my garage.
    Good luck
