It would have been nice to take 2 but a lot to ask for. Philly has a lot of talent and it shows. 1-1, Citi field will be electric for game 3.
As the underdog in this series this is a tough loss cause you feel like it was there to take. Diaz you’re hurting your team man. Can’t keep coming back after he implodes.
Mets just have to pitch to Harper. Tried to avoid it and lost. So next time pitch to him and if we lose because of it then so be it.
Ace on the mound for game 3 after the first time coming home in nearly 2 weeks. Go get this one tomorrow.
This team is just wild. So many ups and downs. Mets had a great chance to be 2-0 in this series, but could also be 0-2. Fun stuff. Just wish the bullpen was better I hate they way they've been using Diaz lately. Trying to make him pitch 2 innings every game isn't working and they really need to save him for the 9th.I don't care who is up. If you want him to last the playoffs, you don't do that.
I'm probably in the minority here, but, Diaz is our best reliever, so, he needs to be ready in the 7th-9th inning, especially to stop a potential rally(in a short 5-game series). Yeah, it didn't work out but I'm not putting it on Mendoza. He's trying to win. As @SOXXX2 said, pitch to Harper, especially when no one is on base.
I agree with this. If the Mets had put someone else in, in all likelihood the exact same thing would have happened. Matter of fact it actually did in the 9th inning with a different pitcher on. Diaz also got that out in the 7th with guys on base. Easily could have gotten blown open then instead of the 8th. At the end of the day Diaz gets paid to get those outs but Harper and Castallanos get paid to make the hits. It didn't go the Mets way and in reality the Mets have far overachieved and now know what they need to strengthen in the off-season. With that said though it's 1-1 with 2 games at Citi field. The Mets have already proven they can win in Philadelphia and can win a winner take all game on the road. Everything is still in front of them so on to game 3!
