Today I learned that: "In 1978, a French man named Michel Lotito began eating a Cesna 150 airplaine. He started eating dangerous objects when he was nine years old due to a condition known as pica. It took him two years to complete his metal-filled meal. He finished consuming the last of the airplane in 1980." Hahaha, that is COMPLETE bullshit I'm sure, but pica is a real thing. Ever hear about that guy Tarrare (also French, late 1700s), "the man who ate everything"? Also, pica. I'll leave you all to it.
Causes: Anemia; Autism; Culture-bound syndrome; Malnutrition; Schizophrenia Duration: Entire lifespan After looking it up, I think I now know less about pica.
Today I learned there's a Disgusting Food Museum in Sweden. https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/...ers-who-get-to-decide-what-food-is-disgusting
TIL that if you were to light your farts on fire, an act called pyroflatulance, the resulting flame would be predominantly blue, as hydrogen and methane, the predominant flammable gasses in farts, burn blue. TIL that a type of Japanese water beetle can, when eaten by a frog, swim through the frog's digestive tract and escape through its anus
Today I learned that Edward Snowden somehow managed to fly all over the place with a passport canceled mid-air while I can't drive to the next town without getting pulled over.
Frogs also vomit up their stomachs, clean them out, and re-swallow them. I would always get freaked out how tadpoles would just appear in stagnant pools. What is that? If the earth gets annihilated tomorrow, roaches, frogs, spiders, rats, and groundhogs won't have too much competition.
I didn't learn this today, but there was a huge TV campaign going on in the late 60s-early 70s about kids eating peeling lead paint off of houses. This is why paint cans are labeled "lead free" today, but acrylic is hardly any better.
Today I learned (not really, I knew) that almost all monetary awards in a Court of Law is posturing. Nothing is ever paid to an individual in the sum awarded and it gets reduced to peanuts in comparison.
Today I spent 7 hours in multiple financial branches of different banks and I learned that an idiot would be able to rob most of them blind.
