I don't scout college players, watch college football, or know anyone in the later rounds and I never get the opportunity to watch much preseason football coverage. Braelen Allen, dude is an absolute monster of a human. What is sweeter is his game backed that up as he crushes the first guy that tries to get him down. Big fan of Breece, but 0 may be my fan favorite.
Yeah he's going to be an All Time Jet if he stays healthy, but guys that run like him tend to get nicked up. I like having a stable of ass kickers back there though. It keeps them fresh and competitive. I would have liked to see that first game with the same rotation of Breece and Braelon.
Hard not to be excited by Allen. Did you notice them bringing in Linemen, even Solomon Thomas, to block along with the TE's. They're looking to maul people
Yeah, the bigger guys tend to be the guys that also run more upright and it leads to more injuries. He does seem to have that shiftyness though that may help him prevent bad injuries. What I get really excited about, other then he runs over the first guy pretty consistently, is he seems to have a little twitch in him.
Some guy online was like “how did Allen last til the 4th round?” And Allen himself responded saying something cool mocking the combine
He's really fast for a guy his size, they had him running out of the shotgun his whole last season at Wisconsin. And the Jets still haven't really worked him into the passing game yet but you saw what he could do in the screen game. Dude has some hands on him. And he can block on 3rd down.
Also running backs just are never drafted high anymore. While most are a dime a dozen, this kid clearly has unique ability, he's a monster that moves. Go with Breece who has shown multiple times he has a receiver skillset on top of being a good runner, Jets may have the best RB room in the league.
He also has one of the pre-snap GOATs back there directing him who to block. The same guy who also hates getting hit so he’s going to learn a ton about pass blocking the same year he’s buying beers for the first time which is awesome.
He’s balling out…and looking very much like a STEAL as a 4th round pick…(and on a side note, it’s kinda weird but historically it feels like we’ve had much better luck in the 4th round vs. the 2nd round…strange) I’m happy that it’s only taken 3 games to kind of figure out how to maximize both Hall and Allen…the first game was all Hall, but these last two it’s been a much better mix of the two, and the Pats game was great…you can see how it helps keep each guy fresh…
I'd have to actually look back at drafts but this definitely feels true. I think we have a good history going back numerous GMs with the 4th round. Probably better than the 2nd. Definitely better than the 3rd.
and hope he doesn’t change his number like Garret did. Got Garret Jersey as rookie and now he s number 5. Few people came up to me and said who’s #17. I said I dunno now.
Braelon said growing up his favorite player was Melvin Gordon. After converting full time to RB in college, he modeled his game after Derrick Henry. His college coach was Henry's former coach. They worked out together this offseason: https://x.com/BraelonAllen/status/1776760282531893685 6'2", 240 at 20, he'll end up at Henry's 250 I'd think. He also said in an interview with Chris Simms, "Everytime I touch the ball I want to punish somebody. Put somebody on a highlight clip." Side note, his family are Packers fans from that area, so rooting for a Rodgers-lead Jets team will be perfect for them.
Wow. Awesome information my friend. I see you are a poster for 14 years now. Please become a regular and talk football with us.
