Agree, Joe Douglas should be reaching out to Reddick at this point. No reason not to. I get that pride suggests you should stand your ground and there is some logic behind it, but we need help at the position with JJ out. I love WMD, but he's not enough.
In a sport where careers can end in an instant, signing too late could minimize their return. Most players will sign their market value contracts, if offered.
Burrow, Hurts, Goff, Herbert, Love, Lawrence, Tua all got top of the market deals while being years away from UFA Same for Amon Ra, AJ brown, ceedee lamb, and Jordan Jefferson Patrick Surtain just reset the cornerback market after his third year
I'd say we're looking good right now. It's early but the DL looks like it's coming together and McDonald is really elevating.
I don’t think quarterbacks are reasonable to include in the rest of the data set because of the nature of their contracts and importance. So top 5 players at each position might get paid earlier but I don’t think it’s fair to say free agency is bare or players generally sign up for fair deals and forego free agency like you’re alluding to.
pick any position sans running back, at least 4 of the top 5 players at each position was re-signed early by the team that drafted them https://overthecap.com/position/left-guard
Reddick could be having the best season of his career with this team.. hopefully he figures that out soon.
This is such a soap opera. Now with the play of Macdonald do the Jets now have the upper hand back from Riddick? I'd say yes, what the point of paying a guy top 3 money when you getting the production from some one on his rookie deal.
Bad news for Hasson. Great news for us @RichCimini This is an eye opener: #Jets have 14 sacks, tied for their most through 3 games since team sacks were first tracked in 1963. The last time the Jets had 14 sacks through 3 games was 1966. Not that having him wouldn't be great, but not exactly hurting for pass rush without him!
Its an amazing thing to see guys stepping up when they get the chance. IDK if its AR aura permeating team but 99 was even holding the edge and crashing down the line on running plays. 44 was amazing. 91 and 96 (first game) were great for their lack of experience. Crazy good time!! Did you see our TE#3 make an amazing block? His first NFL game.
Fair - but Tennessee's OL isn't bad. And the Jets DL was a ragtag group too (2 UDFAs, journeymen, and backup-caliber DL getting lots of time). NE has some decent OL as well - not all schmucks. Gotta play who's against you and they sure did. I've seen this team play down to it's competition waayy too often over the years.
He may not even make it as starting qb to week 4. How about ZW starting--holy shit would that me awesome!
