I'm no expert, but in my book the longer the Jets hold the ball in terms of game clock time, the better it is for the Jets. The Niners have so many weapons, and they can run the score up against any defense. The better Breece Hall is, the more time the Jets can kill.
We definitely need a strong run game to control the clock and I am glad we have the horses to keep Breece fresh throughout the game. God I am excited.
It's possible because of this strategy, we may not get the full scope of what Aaron Rodgers is (or isn't) capable of. There will be plenty of other games where Rodgers will get this turn in the spotlight.
Agree with your take, but IMO is more than just Hall, is all three RBs both gaining yards on first and second down thru sustained runs and or short outlet passes. I don’t think AR is going to air it out till he gets real confortable with the OL and will start conservative thru quick outlet passes, mis direction runs and long counts to draw the D offsides.
They should feature him all year long. The offense should be able to ride on Hall’s back and then play action their way towards deep throws and sideline throws while keeping AR out of harms way. So naturally I expect Hackett to throw the ball 45 times a game and give Breece 12 touches…
As our o-line goes, so will our running game. IMO how our defense performs will be just as big. Are we good enough to contain their offense and keep them under 20 points? Even if we are, we're going to need more than Breece. We not going to run the ball down their throats or control the clock on them all game. If the run can keep them honest and open up the passing that would be great. We'll need a balanced attack. (unless we get points from defense/special teams) We should have a special big play of two schemed for Garrett according to their base defense. Ideally we keep it close at halftime. We''ll probably need to make solid halftime adjustments. That part is a little scary with our staff. Finally, what do we have with Rodgers? That really is the big two year long question tonight. If we're going to move the ball and actually beat this team it will on Rodgers more than Breece.
I think that would be the smart play. Something tells me that I'll be scratching my head tonight wondering why Breece isn't getting the ball enough.
Just a reminder to people complaining about our game plan, that we also thought riding Breece was the key. Okay not me, but maybe thats the real reason I'm bumping this.
Don't strain your rotator cuff patting yourself on the back LOL, it was not very difficult to see this happening with this jalopy franchise. I said in July and August that this game had 35-12 SF written all over it. Whenever the "experts" start talking BS like Jets and playoffs / Super Bowl, they bring us right back to the reality of a top 5-10 draft pick in April.
It makes great sense. And it only took the niners 2 possessions to adjust to us, on both sides of the ball. I have no idea what our coaches do all game.
They just spend the entire game staring at #8 and going "Dude, that's Aaron Rodgers. We so got this."
