What 3rd QBs are "good"? With a 3rd QB, I feel like if they have NFL game experience, that is a huge plus.
By definition, if a QB is at the level of QB3, they aren't, let's say...good. It seems to me if the Jets need a QB3, there will be plenty of QBs available at that level. Having said that, they should put a QB on the practice squad that can learn the system.
Experience can definitely be helpful, but all experience isn't "equal." Some have had nothing but bad experience. Some have had really good experience. Some learn from their experience. Others haven't. I think a QB3 should basically be a young developmental prospect, someone who still has upside and potential, not a JAG. IMO White is a JAG. We know what he is, and more importantly, what he isn't. I'd rather keep Martinez than add a JAG. If Rodgers and Taylor only have to miss one game, then it would be better to have a QB with experience, but chances are at their ages if they are injured, they will miss more than one game. If they both miss more than 1-2 games, the playoffs are probably out of reach, and even if the Jets already have a playoff birth locked up, if that QB3 had to start and play a playoff game, the season is over.
They already have a "Prospect".... they drafted him the 5th rd. They need someone who can come in and not totally fuckup... and put the ball in playmakers hands... in stride
What’s up with Jordan Travis? Is he just out for the year? If so, they really should consider adding a QB3. Peasley and Martinez were not it.
I'd have to assume h'es going to be placed on "PUP" list.... and probably redshirted for the year. He doesn't have the ideal physical attributes for an NFL QB, but he's a gamer and has it where it counts "upstairs"... basically the anti-zach. We'll see
If that’s the criteria then why go outside the organization when we have multiple quarterbacks already? We already know the top 2, pick what you think is the best of the rest of them and make them the 3rd. Why bring in someone else’s trash?
If Rodgers and Taylor both go down for good, the season is 99% going to be sunk, whether we have Martinez in there or some other scrub we pick up off the trash heap to be QB3. And if our scrub QB3 only has to come in for a game, or better yet, part of a game, I'd rather a guy like Martinez who can scramble and make something happen with his legs.
Jaren Hall is expected to be released by the Vikings. He would be a good 3QB option. Young, developmental player with some NFL regular season experience. I would rather have him than 17 DLmen.
very fair point. I think Nate Peterman would be a good example of a guy with NFL starter experience I wouldn’t want over perhaps Martinez.
OMG no to Peterman. We need a 3rd who can step into a game or two and maybe win 1, or, a guy who can be developed. Nate is neither.
What about Nate Sudfeld? The Lions cut him and he would be a fairly solid backup guy. He spent time in San Francisco and he's also got some starting experience (5 games). I've seen him play. Not a bad 3rd option if you ask me.
Right. I wouldn't want Peterman. Just used him as a good example of a QB with NFL starter experience I wouldn't want for 3rd.
I get it--You used one of the worst possible guys to prove your point lol, really, terrible QB--no idea how he still lingers--and yeah, there are too many like him around. Brett Rypien was just signed by the vikings--omg is he terrible--the worst qb i observed in a game in 2023. And I think JD signed him to the PS late last year lol. I got an opinion on everything
While worse than Zach Wilson, Peterman is still better than Tim Boyle. Who in turn is better than Christian Hackenberg.
