I don't care either way. I know he'd make the Jets better, but at this point, I despise his ass. I can't root for him.
This is my first preseason game. What the h&*l is this offensive staff been doing all d&mn summer? Can't they give these guys a few plays to execute? The 2nd and 3rd stringers on D have been impressive but the offense is terrible. Martinez has shown a little, but Peasely is awful. Sad to think they dropped a promising 2nd division QB (forgot his name) for this guy.
Probably doing exactly what they did last year, making sure that the postseason drought reaches a 14th season. It really bewilders me how there's any excitement for this team this season. We've seen this movie before. This coaching staff is so inept that the Jets could field the all-decade team from the last ten years and still have trouble limping their way into the postseason.
Until tonight, Peasley had been doing well. He outplayed Martinez in the 1st preseason game, and it was a tossup in the 2nd. Peasley had been playing with the 2nd stringers and some 3rd stringers. Tonight he was saddled with the dregs (4th and 5th stringers) of the roster. He had no chance tonight. The OL couldn't open any holes and they couldn't give Peasley any protection or time. Peasley is more accurate and has a better arm than Martinez. You are mistaken in this post. The QB they dropped was injured (that he hadn't disclosed) and wasn't going to be able to play. You start off by saying this is your first preseason game this summer, and yet you criticize without having seen or known what has transpired. Sorry, but that doesn't make a lot of sense imo. The 2nd and 3rd string offense certainly hasn't lit up opponents, but they've played pretty well. The lower part of the roster hasn't but they're not very talented players and will be driving trucks and stocking grocery shelves within a week. There's not much that can be expected from those guys.
No reason McGregor and Taylor shouldn't make the team. JJ. Q. Kinlaw. WMcD. Tak. Fotu. Thomas. Clemmons. That leaves 2 spots if they take 10 DL.
Spot on. Not to mention that in joint practices with the first and second stringers on both sides of the ball we have been lighting it up with a strong amazing running game and pin point passing, with a D that is our deepest ever.
I'm in CA for the summer so I haven't been able to see games 1 and 2, however, just going by the scores, there hasn't been a lot of O generated, so I feel my criticism is valid. From what I saw, Peasley seemed to have time to throw on a lot of the plays (as did Martinez.) One particular play, I remember Peasley was under pressure with a hand in his face but missed an open receiver down field. I feel most top QBs in the league make that throw. I feel if your a QB trying to make an impression on a coaching staff, you have to make it as well. If you're going to be an NFL QB, you have to make throws under pressure.
For starters, neither Martinez, nor Peasley are anywhere near top QBs. They are borderline NFL talents, hoping to earn a spot on the PS and have a chance to develop into starters or quality backups. Of course if a QB is trying to make an impression on their CS they have to make throws under pressure, but they have to be put in a position to succeed. Peasley was not last night. He was suddenly playing with guys that couldn't block, RBs who couldn't produce on their own, and WRs who couldn't get open. I don't think any QB could lift those players up and make them better. They are what they are, training camp fodder to fill out rosters. If you thought Peasley had a lot of time to throw, then you watched a different game than I did. As far as the scores of the preseason games. The only starters to player were Tippman, Hennessy, Zuerlein and Morstead. I think Tyrod played in the 1st preseason game and did well, but only played a series or two. I don't know how one can expect 3rd/4th string QBs playing with 2nd-4th (or 5th) string players can be expected to light up the scoreboard. Other teams have talent too, and teams play basic vanilla offense. They don't give away any trick plays or new wrinkles in preseason. They barely gameplan, if at all. They don't have detailed info on other teams scrubs. Those level players haven't had that many reps in TC. All that leads to sloppy play and lower scores much of the time.
