I don't think I ever saw a WR get hit in the thigh with a pass on a crossing pattern and not come up with the catch. Both kid QB's did not impress and honestly, the offense looked exactly the same as the '23 version. Boring and predictable with no downfield plays. Hackett will never change. Rodgers had better know every play because he'll be changing the play a lot at the LOS.
Martinez put some terrible stuff on tape last night. Shame. I thought the defense flashed at times. Some really nice coverages in the outer umbrella and some decent DLine get off. special teams was good
Does anyone have a synopsis of yesterday? Judging by the box score it looks like it might’ve been the worst football game ever played.
I got up to watch the game - midnight KO in the UK - what a waste of time. Neither of our Q/B's had much of a clue or the skill to even complete a pass. If it hadn't been for the Running game we could easily have lost the game. If either of these 2 Q/B's even have to play a snap this season we are toast!
I didn't see this but he hasn't looked great--I thought he was a tougher runner from what I had understood while he was with Pitt. Don't really even see a PS offering in his future at this point.
I watched 2 1/2 quarters--the best thing I saw was #91 on the edge with contain. I have to tell you, Clemons looks like shit if we're looking for a 2-down starter. Mcd did his Huff thing again which is great. But he's no benefit as a 3-down guy. Peasley sucked and Martinez was worse. The Offensive game calling was frankly, offensive. RB Davis--looks like they are thinking about using him ala Edelman early in his career--punt returns and I expect, could be wrong, he's going to line up in the slot at some point. So I'm expecting 4 rb's on the 53 with izzy making it. Davis looked quick. He could be a weapon. Stiggers is a game player--needs seasoning but did well as gunner and always looks to mix it up.
These preseason games keep getting worse and worse every year, yet I still watch them all. Did you see the camera shot of the stands showing that Panthers family bored out of their skulls? These games are practices without the top players - with expensive parking and food. Two takeaways: Uniforms looked great, and no injuries.
Saw these exact same playcalls last year during the season. They didn't work last year and didn't work last nite.
It's also not as if Hackett has anything that could be called "full fledged" or "exotic" regular season play calls. The guy didn't even know until the end of the season that Breece Hall could be a weapon out of the backfield. This is the guy calling the plays and it's somehow expected that this is the year that the playoff drought is ended.
Who said anything about exotic or regular season play calls? How about just mixing it up on 1st down and not just running between the OGs? Then on second down throwing a short pass, and then have 3rd and long. That doesn't give the young players a chance to learn and develop. It puts them at a disadvantage
And the league wants to expand the season to 18 games and expand the rosters to accomodate that? The play in the NFL is getting bad enough. They're going to wind up slitting their own throats. If they cared about the quality of the product and keeping players healthy, then they would go back to 14 games in a season.
Idunno how you do it man. I watched Codrington’s second half kickoff as about the only preseason play I’ve really watched so far and turned it off. It’s brutal football.
