I am usually skeptical about fantasized football trades, but Boomer suggested this morning that it might make sense for everybody concerned for the Jets to trade Reddick for Adams.

Boomer pointed to his experience as an older vet on an losing team. He said there is nothing to play for other than padding your career statistics. He speculated that Adams would not be happy on The Raiders this season.

At this point, I can’t imagine Reddick being happy on the Jets this year either. So why not make a concerted effort to reunite Rodgers with Adams? The Jets offense would be terrifying, although the defense would be less well off without Reddick.

The Jets would have to give up more than just Reddick for Adams, of course. How about Reddick, a mid round draft choice, and Lazard?

    No.

Reddick will be suited up week 1. Can trade some mid round pick for Adams at the trade deadline. The Jets need Reddick on this roster.

That’s also a possibility. But I’m disturbed about the possibility that Reddick will be a “me first” Cancer in the locker room because of his feeling underpaid.

He can't miss the year. He played his last card at a hailmary attempt. He has nothing else. He is 30 years old and getting fined out the ass. He isn't going to miss the year and lose out on the money and then just have to redo the entire thing again next year. His agent is giving him awful advice.

Do the Raiders need Reddick? They have Crosby and others to rush the passer.

Obviously it looks like an ideal Jets trade, get rid of a headache for a top WR, but the Raiders might have something to say about that

tweet is misleading. Its Creative Artists Agency, (CAA football). They represent half the league.

Yeah, some of their players are in contract disputes but some have had great success with CAA negotiated extensions like Josh Allen, Matthew Stafford, Deebo Samuel, the list of players they represent is huge

they are like the Walmart of football player agents. This tweet is like cherry picking a few instances where someone got a bad product from Walmart when everyone else is fine

It says players Dandy represents. I'm not going to dive deeper to see if he was those players actual agent because I don't care. But nevertheless, he seems like a good agent if he represents all those top tier NFL athletes. We all saw what happened to Scott Boras clients this MLB offseason with Snell, JD Martinez, Bellinger, Chapman & Montgomery. Sometimes good agents can't read the current market and make mistakes. Everyone knows Boras is the top 1% of all MLB agents.

very true they can make mistakes

we are all aware of the Connor Hughes tweet though where he makes it seem like it’s all Reddick and his agent’s fault with a change of heart or something after promising to show up

but I saw a different tweet from a real reporter, Schwartz I think.

He claimed the Jets knew Reddick was unhappy with his contract and going to hold out in Philly. The Jets tried to negotiate an extension with Reddick even before the trade with Philly’s permission. Couldn’t come to an agreement and made the trade anyway…

if that’s the case then none of this is a surprise and Douglas just made a dumb trade

Interesting! I wonder what Rodgers take on that would be? He'd be reuniting with Adams, but he likes Lazard a lot too. Lazard would have to be included in the deal however for the Jets to have any possible way of fitting Adams in under the cap and they'd probably still wind up with no cap space for this season. I'm for it! We've wasted enough time with Reddick. Having Adams would more than compensate for not having Reddick. Like many players who hold out and show up late, they wind up getting injured, so the Jets could wind up getting little from Reddick this year anyway, and they'd be saving themselves from more problems and headaches by making the trade. Between Q, Kinlaw, JJ, McDonald, Clemons, Watt, Taylor and maybe McGregor, they may get enough pass rush this season anyway.

The major issue is why would the Raiders make this trade? Adams isn't the type to make trouble even if he is unhappy. They'd be giving up most of what little offense they will have, a mid-round pick wouldn't help them that much, and they'd be taking on the massive headache and salary cap hit of Reddick. If part of the reason Reddick has helod out is that he didn't want to play for the Jets, why would he want to play for the Raiders? Why would they want to take an equally big cap hit (or close) for a player who isn't nearly as good as Adams?

I hate the Raiders, and at this point, right or wrong, I detest Reddick, so make it happen, JD!!! LOL

If what you say is true, then they unbdoubtedly have a number of agents and not just Tory Dandy. The agency itself may be fine, but Dandy may be a rotten apple in the barrel. Didn't Deebo do a "hold in" before his contract situation was resolved? If so, then maybe Dandy and/or or CAA isn't the problem, but rather it's Reddick. Maybe he never wanted to play for the Jets.

Boras is an ass. I'd bet that every single owner in MLB hates him and hates dealing with him.

Nice idea but no chance. The whole idea of the raiders trading Adams is because they r rebuilding . If they cash him out, they wouldnt want to pay an older speed rusher

If true, that’s pretty bad…the best time to get to a deal with the guy is BEFORE you actually trade for him…if they couldn’t get something agreed to then, we should have passed on the deal, or at the very least, made the pick totally contingent on the player actually playing

So basically this is a common play by his agents. Every player they represent has pulled this bullshit. I hate dealing with these type of agents, that seem to never deal in good faith

Obviously with a guy like Reddick who was already disgruntled and demanding a contract from the Eagles everything should have been 100% locked down with both Reddick and his agent before the Jets made this trade. Instead the trade was a massive fuckup and now the only question is how do we exit from the debacle with as little damage as possible. The worst possible scenario is giving Reddick was he is demanding and being stuck with this cancer in the locker room for the next 2 years before he holds out again and refuses to play the last year of his new 3 year deal. The second worst possible scenario is watching Reddick sit around until week 10 and then show up out of shape, drag his ass and play with no motivation and go out for the season with an "injury" a couple of weeks later. At this point it is a lose/lose and it seems to me the best way to salvage the situation is to try to trade him for a decent player who fills a need and is excited and motivated to be here, whether it is Adams or someone else.

you have to consider that Douglas has a long losing record and made this deal with his former employer.

Maybe he thinks if this Aaron Rodgers thing doesn't pan out and he gets fired he can at least go back to his old boss and remind him that he helped him get out of that Haason Reddick mess and land on his feet

I agree that the trade probably should not have been made, but for all we know both Reddick and his agent did agree that he would show up, and either lied about it or changed their minds. Still, your point stands. With it not being in a signed and sealed document, the trade shouldn't have happened.

Reddick cannot gain anything by showing up in week 10. After week 6, the contract tolls to next season, so he'd have forfeitted at least 5 game checks and $1 million in fines, which are mandated by the CBA and NFL. The Jets would retain his rights next season, and they'd be right back where they are now. At that point, there's no way that Reddick would get the big contract he was looking for, even if he didn't get injured, but if he showed up out of shape, immediately got injured or dragged ass, he'd probably only get a vet minimum contract. He would have royally screwed himself.

Reddick is a necessity if the Jets want to make the playoffs this year, not a luxury. He's instantly their best pass rusher. They need him to play starting week 1.
