It's not anything earth shattering. They had a scrimmage with the Commanders, it was raining so they kept Rodgers out as a precaution. Which sounds pretty lame and it is. And then Rodgers threw Saleh under the bus a little saying it wasn't his call.

There will be bigger controversies over the course of this season but it just seems to happen a lot with those two

Yes you are right. Chemistry between Saleh and Rodgers is off and I am 100% sure it started with Saleh throwing Rodgers under the bus due to Mandatory camp. Saleh botched it entirely and I would be pissed if I was Rodgers as well.

He definitely did and it's even more frustrating because handling that in the correct way is incredibly easy and takes almost no forethought to accomplish, and the fact that they had months to come up with a solution that should have only taken a few minutes to craft just makes it that much worse.

The fact that Saleh can't even handle the easy parts of the HC job makes the fact that Woody retained him this offseason even more unbelievable. If he can't handle something simple like this, then why should anyone trust him to lead this team towards anything better than a 7 win season?

If you were Saleh, how would you have handled Rodgers not attending mandatory camp when asked about it by the press?

I would go full Bellichik way. Honestly there is no benefit giving press even the slightest chance to create a controversy. Coaches don't owe press anything.

I am not the most politically correct guy. You asked a great question but I don't have an answer for you though. Didn't think about how I would handle it. But I would try to be as political as I can be to avoid controversy. Bellichik did it for years. Gave press nothing. That's what I want from my head coach.

Agreed. All Saleh had to do was say something along the lines of "Aaron, Joe, and I discussed this several months ago. It was handled internally to the satisfaction of all parties involved. We look forward to seeing Aaron and the entire team at the end of July when camp starts."

That took all of, I don't know, 30 seconds to come up with and type, something that Saleh couldn't pull off in however many months he knew about Rodgers' planned absence. Yet this guy is "earning" $5 million to coach this team. And this isn't even the first time he's botched things with the media surrounding the QB position. It's just utter incompetence that is going to sink this team for a third consecutive season.

Thinking more about it, I would also mention he joined all voluntary workouts in the process.

Up until his "sack" in yesterday's practice, I had not seen Leonard Taylor's name mentioned from OTA, mini-camp, or TC practices. Well, a poster on another site, said that Dan Leberfeld had said good things about him. If true, this is excellent news as Taylor has a ton of talent. If he shows out too much in preseason, however, it may be impossible to sneak him onto the PS. The Jets could wind up losing one of Taylor or Watt trying to put him on the PS.

The Jets under GM Joe Douglas have an impressive track record of signing undrafted free-agent gems. Did he find another one in 2024 UDFA defensive tackle Leonard Taylor? Taylor was very disruptive at Jets camp today, shooting into the backfield blowing up two running plays, to go along with a QB pressure. What Taylor displayed on these plays was terrific first-step quickness into gaps for a 305-pounder, something that can’t be taught. His movement skills for a big man are impressive, and that is why he was a 5-star recruit coming out of Miami’s Palmetto High School in Pinecrest, Florida, who got offers from major programs like Georgia, Alabama and Ohio State. He chose to stay home and play at the University of Miami, and had a little bit of an up-and-down college career. If he can improve his technique and consistent motor under Jets D-Line coach Aaron Whitecotton, the Jets could have something here.
