This son needs its own thread. I had to start this thread. Today I took my wife to dinner and our server was an Italian immigrant. We bonded over this song. For the Jets fans who never heard this song before, here is your chance to listen to it. It is a Left Wing song. But more than the lyrics the music captivated people accross the world from Europe to Latin America to Africa and Asia. What a song. I first heard back in 1989 and since then it is my personal favorite. And I know @abyzmul also loves this song.
Any fans of the Netflix show “Money Heist” knows this song well. Although I had already knew this song way before watching it, 2 of the scenes centered around it are truly iconic. If you never watched Money Heist, well worth the time. There are several really good versions of this song around.
Yes, I like that song and enjoyed Money Heist. I do like this hip hop version, it's directly based off Money Heist.
@Brook! @abyzmul let me add this rendition by Goran Bregovic, in my opinion one of the greatest musicians of my lifetime. (Click 'watch on you tube')
My friend. I am surprised you know Goran Bregovic. Major props really. I am a fan of him for more than 25 years. 21 years ago I watched him live in his major concert in Istanbul. Spot on. His version is also unique. But still my preference is the original Italian version.
I’m not surprised you’re a fan, since you’re from that general part of the world and you seem like a man of taste . Bregovic is probably in my top 5 favorite artists. Been a fan since 1996 when I spent a summer in Bulgaria (origin story of my user name btw) and all the cool kids were listening to the Underground movie soundtrack, which had just come out. I would love to see him live but he rarely comes to the US. Will try to catch him over in Europe one of these days
He makes regular appearances in Turkey as he has a strong fan base there. He also made an album with one of the most popular singers in Turkey(Sezen Aksu). That said, if he does a concert in Turkey, you and I should fly from New York, watch him again live and catch a Galatasaray game in the process.
