Wilson said Friday at his youth football camp that he would welcome a Jets trade with the Raiders for Adams. “I see that. I’m excited. I’m with all of it,” Wilson said of the Adams chatter, via Brian Costello of the New York Post. “Anyone we can get into the facility to help this team win games, I’m with it and he’s one of those.” Adams was Rodgers’ WR1 with the Packers. Wilson is Rodgers’ WR1 with the Jets. The Jets tried to trade for Adams before last season and again at the trade deadline. The Raiders have yet to show much interest in moving Adams, meaning they haven’t gotten an offer good enough to move him. Rodgers, though, gave new life to the Adams-to-Jets talk this week when he said, “I love Davante. I can’t wait to play with him again.” Adams has 622 catches for 7,590 yards and 69 touchdowns in 108 games with Rodgers, per statmuse.com.
I think if anything it would be a deadline deal, depending on where the team is at in the standings and how the offense is performing. If they need that "put me over the top" piece, he could be it.
So there's this show on Netflix called Receiver that follows a handful of NFL players including Adams. He really comes off to me as a huge flake and diva. I wasn't sure what to expect from him but he is not a veteran presence I would seek out for the locker room. Davante Adams: “My benchmark is not wins and losses, it's greatness.”
I just don’t see it happening, and that’s a good thing IMO. Mike Williams is the huge question mark and will likely miss time this year (history says so) so I’m a bit torn at WR. Wilson Williams Corley Lizard (maybe he has a reclamation, he’s a devastating blocker) Gibson Brownlee We will be a run first offense. Invested a lot in the maulers up front and the young backs.need to give this defense some breathing room and field position this year. Keep em fresh Who knows what happens by mid august with TC injuries etc. Buckle up!!
I thought there was a chance last year at this time but very highly doubt it now. That said I'm not opposed but it will cost a lot. From the Raiders standpoint they have issues at QB and most prognosticators predict a bottom 10 finish for them so why should they pay so much to keep him? Maybe if they go 0-3 out of the gate they'd be more willing to move him.
As a Raider fan I'm wondering what you would give up? What would you guys be willing to give up? I'm not married to the guy, don't care.
I'll be shocked if it happens and don't think it should. For starters, I don't know how the Jets could even begin to fit him under the cap. Even if they could for this year, it would most likely put them in cap hell for the next 3-4 years, and the team would go right back to being awful next year and during that time. They wouldn't be able to re-sign their own FAs. Adams is a great WR, but I don't like the comment that Abyzmul quoted. He sounds like a selfish, me-first player, rather than a team player. I also have a feeling that Garrett Wilson wouldn't be quite so happy, even if Adams led them to a SB win if Garrett's stats went way down, as they probably would with Adams here.
Which is the exact reason that a franchise shouldn't give a lame duck GM a win-now mandate. Douglas most likely won't have to worry about what the team's financial and draft pick situation looks like next year, so there's no reason for him not to try to spend current capital and cap flexibility in order to save his job. Trading for Adams wouldn't be a good idea at all, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if we did it (because the Jets rarely turn down the opportunity to make a dumb decision), especially depending on where Williams is in his recovery.
He plays for Raiders though, if wins were the only thing he cared about, he would be a very angry person. Sometimes you gotta make the best of a bad situation
