Sorry @Brook! . They almost made it past the Dutch. They have been really good, they made the tournament so much more fun with their swashbuckling style, and you have much to look forward to in 2026! If there is any justice, we’ll get a Spain-Holland final. If England or France fart their way to a trophy it will be a travesty
Yep. That was a good game. If Turkey qualifies for World Cup I believe they will make some noise. I want a Spain-England final to be honest. And I want Spain to win it all. We shall see
I will be in England next Sunday, the night of the Final. I imagine it will be quite bonkers if the English beat the Dutch on Wednesday.
Leaving a pub filled with a lot of disappointed England fans (and a couple of happy Spain ones). Those two saves in the 90th minute (including one by the defender) was the death blow to the hopes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Looks like it got crazy at Hard Rock Stadium last night - fans will be fans when it comes to soccer. At an LA watch party there were more riots, stabbings included. www.reuters.com/sports/soccer/copa-america-final-between-argentina-colombia-delayed-conmebol-says-2024-07-15/
Hooligans. I was watching that documentary on Wrexham soccer. The guy is a proud hooligan at the games. His wife got a job as a cop and it was affecting her job, she was begging him to stop with the shit. and he was just like "no I can't" and chose his team and hooliganism over his wife! I can't imagine that here, the Jets don't deserve that
I didn't see this game. but WTF from the Athletic: Argentina and Morocco engaged in one of the most bizarre 2-1 games you will see. In the normal run of game time, it appeared Argentina had secured a frantic 2-2 draw after scoring in the final minute of stoppage time. Moroccan fans then threw bottles on the pitch and some even stormed the field. The game was called, and everyone went home. More than an hour and a half later, officials nixed the Argentina equalizer due to an offside call. Why? No one seems to know. Referees called both teams back to the pitch to play three minutes of stoppage time in front of an empty stadium. Morocco left with a 2-1 win. Argentina coach Javier Mascherano and his players left furious. Mascherano called the game “a circus,” which feels right. “What happened on the pitch was scandalous. It’s not a local tournament, it’s the Olympic Games,” he said. Yeesh.
Shouldn't have soccer in the Olympics anyway. The Olympics should be the pinnacle of your sport. Soccer adds nothing to the Olympics, and the Olympics adds nothing to soccer.
Yes donkey. US Women's Soccer National Team draws big crowds here in USA. Their games are followed almost more than the US Men's team. But as someone from Europe I agree with your sentiment about soccer and Olympics. Same applies to basketball and volleyball. These are professional sports now. Focus on the basics in Olympics. But money drives the decisions unfortunately.
