Between now and the the end of the season, there will be quite a few roster moves. I thought that we could start tracking them in one thread. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nf...&cvid=041bd96b542242d6b1a7c340b3c8a7d0&ei=131 The New York Jets did some roster shuffling this week ahead of OTAs. They added two players on the offensive side of the ball with wide receiver Hamze El-Zayat and running back Markese Stepp. In a corresponding move, the green and white cut ties with running back Jacques Patrick and defensive lineman Marquiss Spencer. Jets Lock in Several Rookies to Contracts In addition to some of those moves, general manager Joe Douglas worked quickly to lock in several members of his 2024 rookie class. Olu Fashanu, the No. 11 overall pick in the first round, signed a four-year deal. Rich Cimini of ESPN said it’s a “slotted amount of $20.5 million, plus a fifth-year option.” New York then locked in their new RB2 behind Breece Hall, by locking in former Wisconsin tailback Braelon Allen. Cimini revealed that it’s a four-year deal for $4.5 million. Ex-Florida State passer, Jordan Travis is locked into his rookie deal. He will be pegged as the developmental QB3 in 2024. That is a four-year standard contract “for about $4.3 million,” according to Rich Cimini of ESPN. The Jets raised a lot of eyebrows when they took two running backs during the 2024 class. However, they appear to have a plan for both of those players in terms of pass protection and grinding out games. saiah Davis, one of those backs, inked his four-year deal for “about $4.3 million,” per Rich Cimini of ESPN. One of the best stories from the 2024 NFL draft has officially become a reality. Qwan’tez Stiggers, the former CFL star, has inked the same type of contract as a slotted fifth-round draft choice ($4.3 million). Finally, New York also locked in former Alabama defender Jaylen Key to his rookie contract. The contract for Key is a little lighter, “about $4.1 million”, by nature of him being drafted later than the others. That leaves Malachi Corley as the only unsigned rookie at publication. A New Era of NFL Football Field Yates of ESPN sent out this post on X previously Twitter on Friday, May 10: “103 of the 257 picks in the 2024 NFL Draft officially signed their rookie deals today. Long gone are the days of rookie deals taking a while to come together.” That all dates back to the 2011 NFL CBA agreement. “The rookie wage scale has had the biggest impact on the game, because it has changed the way NFL teams draft. No. 1 picks no longer make $50 million guaranteed, everyone signs a four-year deal and rookie holdouts have started to slowly fade away,” Tyson Langland of Bleacher Report explained. Over a decade ago, these rookies could negotiate large factors in their contracts which could lead to holdouts. Fast forward to now, the Jets signed 99% of its rookie draft class in a handful of hours on social media. It’s a whole new world which is good news for the Jets because this means that there is one less potential distraction they will have to deal with this offseason.

The Jets signed DE Takkarist McKinley today following his tryout at yesterday's mini-camp. I wonder how healthy he is. Earlier in his career, he had shoulder issues, then tore his achilles tendon late in the 2021 season.

The New York Jets are the latest organization to use the UFL for players. New York signed offensive lineman Kohl Levao of the San Antonio Brahmas in an announcement made by the UFL social media team themselves. Levao helped lead the Brahmas to the inaugural UFL championship game against the Birmingham Stallions but fell 25-0. Now, Levao will be able to compete for a potential role on the Jets roster that has made transformational changes to their offensive line. Levao made the All-UFL team this past season for his ability along the offensive line. He was an eighth-round pick by the Brahmas in the XFL Draft before the XFL and USFL merged for the 2024 season. Levao, 26, played at Hawaii from 2018 to 2021. He stands at 6-foot-5, 324 pounds. He will be competing with the likes of Max Mitchell, Wes Schweitzer, and Xavier Newman for roles as backups along a Jets offensive line that has gone through a reconstruction with the additions of Tyron Smith, Morgan Moses, and 11th overall pick Olu Fashanu.
More information on the signing: According to James Larsen of Pro Football Newsroom, Levao is signing a three-year deal with a maximum value of $2.8 million. Larsen explained that Levao garnered “plenty of NFL interest” and held “multiple” contract offers from NFL teams. However, he signed with the Jets because they offered him a multiyear deal which ended up being, “the biggest contract for any UFL player so far this offseason.” Jets Are Kicking the Tires on a Worthy Prospect Levao was on a Brahmas team that went all the way to the UFL championship game this season. He has exclusively played the guard position over the last two years for the Brahmas. According to Pro Football Focus data, Levao has 955 career snaps at left guard and 317 snaps at right guard.
From The Jets Way: David Wyatt-Hupton Very interesting player as he really did play all over at Hawaii. LG - 129 Snaps C - 995 snaps RG - 105 snaps RT - 769 snaps Allowed 3 sacks over his last three years in Hawaii after struggling as a RT in his first year (6 sacks). Will be an interesting guy to keep an eye on.
https://www.newyorkjets.com/news/jets-release-cb-tae-hayes Jets Release CB Tae Hayes Cornerback Signed With Green & White’s Practice Squad Last October Jun 24, 2024 at 02:37 PM Ethan Greenberg The Jets have released CB Tae Hayes. The Jets on Monday released the 26-year-old cornerback, shortly after his Sunday morning arrest in Alabama on a charge of marijuana possession, according to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office. The 5-foot-9, 188-pound Hayes was booked and released after posting a $300 bond. The Jets subsequently released a statement saying, “We are aware of the situation and we will refrain from further comment, as it is a pending legal matter.” The matter is no longer the Jets’ concern. Hayes was signed to the practice squad Oct. 3 and elevated for their game against the Eagles in Week 6, recording two tackles. He originally signed with the Jaguars in 2019 as an undrafted free agent out of Appalachian State and also played for the Dolphins, Panthers, Patriots, Vikings and the Ravens. Overall, he played in 14 career games and had 18 tackles, one fumble recovery and two passes defensed. He was a member of the Stallions’ 2022 USFL championship team. He signed a reserve/future contract with the Jets in January and had been expected to compete for a roster spot.
Well, good thing he didn't skip a mandatory practice to go on a preplanned trip in Egypt to take hallucinogens.
https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profo...ews/jets-sign-third-round-pick-malachi-corley Jets rookies report to training camp on Thursday and all of their draft picks will be under contract once they arrive at the team’s facility. Third-round pick Malachi Corley was the last of the players without a deal, but multiple reports indicate that he has agreed to his four-year rookie deal with the team. The wideout’s agreement leaves just a few 2024 draft picks to sign before the entire draft class is under contract. Corley was taken with the first pick of the third round after the Jets traded up with the Panthers. Corley made a name for himself picking up yards after the catch while at Western Kentucky and had 79 receptions for 894 yards and 11 touchdowns last season. Garrett Wilson and Mike Williams are set to be the other lead targets for Aaron Rodgers this season. There’s been plenty of chatter about Davante Adams as well, but the Raiders wideout’s agents say nothing is doing on the trade front at the moment.
https://jetsxfactor.com/2024/07/17/ny-jets-malachi-corley-rookie-deal/ Malachi Corley agreed to terms on his rookie contract with the New York Jets As of Wednesday morning, the New York Jets have their entire 2024 rookie class under contract. According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston, the team and rookie wide receiver Malachi Corley agreed to terms on a deal. It is for $6.073 million in total and has a $1.237 million signing bonus. Unlike previous seasons, the Jets will not have any negotiations for their draft class that drag into training camp. It will allow the rookies to hit the ground running, learn the playbook, and be ready to contribute to a team in a winning window. Corley has a chance to play one of the most significant roles among the Jets’ rookie class. He brings massive potential as a ball carrier, having the ability to make any tackler miss in the open field. Additionally, he has shown some prowess as a route runner and could take another leap at the NFL level. Regarding the Jets’ offense, Corley is a great compliment to Garrett Wilson and Mike Williams. If the outside receivers play to their talent level, Corley should have plenty of room to do damage in the middle of the field. With the rookie class situated, the Jets will likely turn their attention to Haason Reddick’s contract situation. It is the last remaining contract-related issue for the team in 2024. New York is in a position to compete and contend this season. They have a vastly improved offense and one of the best defenses in the NFL. And by addressing most of their contract situations, the Jets have worked to eliminate distractions before training camp starts.
Jets put Haason Reddick on reserve/did not report https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/jets-put-haason-reddick-on-reserve-did-not-report-sign-qb-ben-bryant I've been doing research and can't determine conclusively if its Reddick's call to come off this list or the teams. I would much prefer that once a player is put on this list by a team, only the team can remove him--so that even if the player says he wants to report, its up to the team to accept this. An excerpt form the article is below and is ambiguous of course. "Reddick has been placed on the reserve/did not report list. Reddick will not count against the team’s roster limit or their salary cap as long as he remains on the list, but can come off the list if he reverses course and decides to join the team." With luck, this will prevent Reddick from just showing up--That is, the NYJ will decide if he comes off the list or not. Way better bargaining position IMO. Fingers crossed.
Faria: Day 2! #Jets announce that they have placed Haason Reddick reserve/did not report list. They also signed QB Ben Bryant.
Zack Rosenblatt @ZackBlatt The #Jets signed QB Adrian Martinez and CB Kendell Sheffield and released CB Nehemiah Shelton and QB Ben Bryant. 10:09 AM · Jul 27, 2024 Ben Bryant, we hardly knew ye. Did you even have time to finish that cup of coffee?
https://www.newyorkjets.com/news/jets-sign-te-anthony-firkser-073024 Jets Sign TE Anthony Firkser Green & White Release FB Nick Bawden Jul 30, 2024 at 04:21 PM The Jets have signed TE Anthony Firkser and released FB Nick Bawden. Firkser (6-2, 246) first signed with the Green & White in 2017 as an undrafted free agent out of Harvard. He most recently played with the Lions and appeared in two games last season. His first game action came with the Titans in 2018 and played for Tennessee through the '21 season. Firkser, who went to Manalapan High School in New Jersey, had 106 catches, 1,107 yards and 5 touchdowns in 58 games (3 starts) for the Titans. He then had a stint with the Falcons in the 2022 season where he played 11 games. He's taken 1,273 career snaps on offense and 411 on special teams. Bawden (6-2, 245), who signed a reserve/future deal with the team in January, was activated off the physically unable to perform list Monday. He first joined the Jets in 2021 and missed all of the 2022 season. He's played in 25 games (3 starts) for the Green & White and has taken 184 snaps on offense and 465 on special teams. *** Whether Firkser lasts or not, I'm happy. I feared we were stuck with Bawden wasting a roster spot again this year due to his playing STs.
