Idunno if he’s good at this or that but he knows how to beat corners and get wide fucking open. I’m glad he’s on our side.
I long for Al Toon. He was a lanky gazelle, you had to be there. G Wilson compares (????), but doesn't have nearly the same physicality. Don't get me wrong, I like Garrett Wilson, but some of you don't know what you missed.
I would LOVE to see how Toony would have faired against today's DB's. Back in those days, WR's were mugged the moment they stepped off the loS and all the way down the field. Him, Harold Carmichael... My god...could you imagine Jerry Rice with today's rules? It's a real shame, I know you can't compare era's but they've "rigged" the game so much these days in favor of the QB and WR's it's almost as if there should be two separate statistical pots.
I know, you always get the you're an old man/old lady argument that 1) everyone kind of sucked then . . . ? 2) you can't compare things from 100 years ago, not remotely the same thing. So Jesse Owens sucked in Berlin in poor running shoes? C'mon. The counterpoint is that NFL rules TODAY would make records blown out of the water if they were in effect THEN. And fck Hitler, btw, Jesse Owens is probably the sickest burn ever.
Funny how we both used gazelle, haha. https://forums.theganggreen.com/threads/how-good-was-al-toon.90316/
For what it's worth, Garrett Wilson had 22 broken tackles last season, most by any receiver not named Deebo (33)
