Wow. Tied with Burrow for the highest average paid QB in the league and Burrow also lost a SB with under 2 minutes to go. That’s a big bet on what he will do and not what he’s shown he’s capable of doing.
I am not a lawrence fan at all but I will say this for all the EPA and analytic nerds out there. Post Urban he has the same EPA/play as Burrow with a full yard higher aDOT
What other choice did Jags have? Every QB contract seems like an overpay and in 3 years the contract seems like a steal. No news.
Yeah but the difference is Herbert, Burrow, Mahomes, Goff, Lamar, Hurts, etc. all essentially just signed their deals. Lawrence jumped all of them. No one other than Dak is really up for a deal in the next couple years and then Stroud 3 years from now.
It is about timing JV. In 3 years his contract will probably drop out of Top 10 when it comes to QB contracts.
Dak, Tua and Love are probably happening this off-season before camp, unless Jerry Jones continues to be a moron when it comes to contract negotiations. Purdy will be next off-season.
You are right JV but who else can a miserable Jaguars team can pay for? Lawrance is their only chance to be relevant next 10 years and they have to keep him happy.
Looks like they back loaded the contract. Over The Cap shows his as the 16th highest paid this season, 18th highest next season and then 16th highest again. 2029 and 2030 season show a cap hit of $74 and $78M. I think the guaranteed is all paid by 2028 but dead cap hit of $21M if they cut him for 2029 season.
This one has always bothered me. Which one is Trevor Lawrence? Or was he dating himself? I heard he's married to himself now. Dude looks like a gay Tarzan . . . whatever that means. None of this has anything to do with the money he just got paid, in case anyone was wondering.
It's going to be real interesting to see what Purdy pulls down. Could we see $60mil/per? Let's face it, by contract time it's a better than average bet all three of his seasons will read NFC Championship game, Super Bowl and (more than likely) at least another NFC Championship game. All while landing #1 in total QBR for 2023. Absolutely insane to think this kid was the last pick in the draft.
I think the market will definitely be 60 by the time it gets to him. It’s at 55 now and there’s still Dak, Tua and Love this year, and then Mahomes and Allen will get re-worked deals since they are being paid little now.
I remember thinking that we'd have heard a lot more Rocky Dennis jokes by this point, but we are in the age of acceptance. Plus I don't think most people know who Rocky Dennis is anymore.
A distant cousin of mine used to have really long hair back in the day. He was at a Jets/Miami game because one of my other cousins was sick. This distant cousin moved to Florida when he was young, but he did everything possible stick it to Miami fans under the radar at every turn. He HATED the Dolphins. There was a whole row of Bob Griese jersey wearing assholes behind us who wouldn't stop harrassing him, so he turned around, raised his arms like he was conducting an orchestra, and said, "I MAKE MORE MONEY THAN YOU!" I don't know what about that shut them down cold, but it's legend. I guess the moral of the story is that Trevor Lawrence makes for money than us. ETA: Wait until some jackass tells me Trevor Lawrence plays for the Jaguars.
