Adam Schefter on X: "Another done deal in Detroit: Lions are signing QB Jared Goff to a four-year, $212 million contract extension that includes $170 million guaranteed, sources tell ESPN. Goff now goes from former No. 1 overall pick to highest-paid Lion in franchise history. https://t.co/FKlQuGDf8M" / X (twitter.com)
I’ve always wondered why media darling Sean mcvay never gets any criticism for Goff. The “offensive genius” and “qb guru” couldn’t do anything with this guy, so they ship him off, but then Detroit gets all of this extra stuff out of him. They legit made him a top 10 qb after mcvay made him look like a bottom 10 qb. Why hasn’t anyone looked back at mcvay and been like hey man….. what’s up? Also, I get they won a SB with Stafford. This isn’t about stafford, it’s about what he couldn’t get out of Goff. I have to knock him down a couple pegs on the genius meter, imo.
Interesting observation and I think it’s valid. However you also answer your own question in that he sealed the SB deal with Stafford so it alleviates any of that being a problem.
Does playing in the Super Bowl really count as "not doing anything with the guy?" If that's the case, the Bills haven't done jack shit with Josh Allen.
