My first impression is that he reminds me of a smaller Quincy Enunwa. I’m good with that.

I wonder if we could have had him without moving up. 15 picks after us and no one has drafted a WR

Probably a mostly redshirt year 1, but he has some skills that I appreciate

Nice highlight reel on Malachi... I like his aggressiveness.

I also liked the QB tossing him the ball.
Reed? Looks like a good development QB.

Basically everyone who has seen him play in college is singing his praises in this thread, which is a positive thing.

I applauded the Jets commitment on principle if he was really their guy.

But yeah, 100% looks like we didn't need to make that trade up to get him lol

Looks like Golden Tate to me, I liked his style of play but it took a couple years

What do you base that on? You don't know what other teams may have liked and wanted him, and may have traded up for him. I was sweating out the entire 2nd round, and I'm still surprised that no one took him earlier.

Agreed. I'm surprised that he wasn't gone earlier. Daniel Jeremiah had him in his top 50 players in the draft. I've seen quite a few mock drafts where he went as early as 42, and quite a few others where he was taken in the early-to-mid 50s. I was getting pissed that JD was just going to sit there and wait until 72.

The hindsight ability to see what ended up being picked between then and pick 72. A bunch of whom had already taken a WR earlier at that.

Yes, but if Corley was still on the board, none of us knows how many teams may have had an interest in moving up and taking him, especially for only a 5th round pick.

Yes, which is why you take a shot at a guy like that In the 3d round, not 10th overall.

I don’t care about the trade up, it has minimal impact because it was moving up within round 3 not round 1

I’m worried though about Douglas’ track record with these mid round WRs, all bums

One of the things that I love about Corley is that he will give us some of the same kind of things that Bowers could have given us.
This would be a good point if Hackett and Rodgers weren't used to using their slot WR a lot (Cobb and Lazard). I don't think they'll have to change much, if anything, to make good use of Corley. The other difference is that, as Borat pointed out in his response, this player was taken at pick #65, not pick #10, and he also plays a position of need for the Jets, WR, whereas Bowers does not.

I think if you looked at the high percentage of that QB's throws that are at or behind the LOS, you might not like him so much.

Of course he is not Bowers, but everyone kept saying how Brock is not really a TE, but will be a slot WR and get YAC, and we can still play Conk and Ruckert. Well now got an actual slot WR in round 3 who will do these things and is known for his YAC too. He comes from small school, but when they played against Ohio St, he stepped up, and more importantly kicked ass at Sr Bowl too which had plenty of P5 guys. I think the guy may end up as a starter at the slot for us. Still would like to get a vet WR.

Guess the question then becomes could they have gotten a good OT prospect later than 11 and taken the guy that projects to be a beastly TE/Slot there instead.

Or it’s not a good question but it does give me a good excuse to pay closer attention to Bowers.

He’ll be the starting slot immediately.
