I' ll tell you why, Woody is cheap. He didn't want to pay there salaries an extra year without work. Same thing almost happened with our last OC until they worked out a deal.
Yeah, maybe he can be as good a coach as Art Shell. A NFL hall of famer. I never got the obsession with having former players becoming coaches. Other then Shell, I can't think of one hall of fame player who went on to become a successful NFL coordinator or head coach.
Excellent points, I agree completely. I would love to have Curtis be a part of this team just because he brings soo much too the table. But as stated in reports before he has minimal interest in coaching. He is such an outstanding person outside of the football world. He would be soo much more usefull being around kids and setting a good example of the kind of person you should be. Simply put Curtis Martin is a class act one of a kind person. Regardless of what he did on the football field he would strive to change the world. He is someone that will do anything he can to help someone else and that kind of mentality is tough to find. Youth
Thats kind of an unfair argument. Your comparing two completely different kinds of people. Just because they both are hall of famers doesnt exactly mean that they can be compared. Shell's whole life is football and he really isnt good at anything else, his personality is warped around football and that only. Curtis is someone who's life does not revolve around football, it was just his job. He gave it his all and became a hall of famer due to his work ethic but by no means is football his life. On the other hand football is Shell's life. Youth
Actually is doesnt work that way. Mangini is in charge of his staff and Mangini chose to keep Marcin around. I have stated before that this is based off the fact Mangini installs a system and the coaches are to coach his system. Marcin was designed for the 4-3 and Mangini decided to keep him around and see if it would work well with the new system. He tried out all the coaches this year and saw that Marcin wasnt the answer. Now its time to finish up his coaching staff. Unfair to accuse Woody for something that had nothing to do with him. It was Mangini's call regardless of the contract. It was still a good move on Mangini's part but it just didnt work out. Now its time to find some coaches who can coach the 3-4 and truly install this system. Rome wasnt built overnight. Youth
Shell is a head coach. I'm sure C-Mart is qualified to be the running backs coach. But he probably wants to get on TV - more money there.
Ray berry Wr of the colts went to the Super Bowl and got killed, 85 pats Ditka was a Hall of Fame TE with the colts thats all I Ican think of, I have to be missing others and who said Shell is a sucessful coach and Ditka and Berry arent
Could you explain the logic of that to me? He is basically the same size as Martin, just a little shorter.
Mike Singletary is assistant head coach with the Niners and is said to be a hot prospect as head coach (so who knows what will happen). James Lofton might get hired by Oakland (well, not really). So, maybe a couple more have a shot.
Vinny: "Don't be afraid to just gun it right at the cornerback if you don't have an open wide receiver. I mean, if they could catch then they should be playing wide receiver, right?"
Mangini isn't finished And Mangini isn't done, one of the people said. The Jets recently interviewed former Broncos defensive coordinator Larry Coyer, who instead took a job with the Bucs as assistant head coach/defense. It's believed Coyer, a former defensive line coach with the Jets in 1994, interviewed for the defensive line coach job with the Jets but he may have been given the title of assistant head coach/defense and that's why he went to Tampa. He'll help coach the Bucs' defensive line. Marcin, who spent seven seasons with the Giants, just completed his third season with the Jets. His background is in the 4-3 scheme. The Jets switched to a 3-4 under Mangini http://www.nj.com/sports/ledger/index.ssf?/base/sports-0/1169185386106730.xml&coll=1
Marcin and Gash were technically not fired.Their contracts expired In a minor shake-up of the Jets' coaching staff, Eric Mangini has decided not to renew the contracts of defensive line coach Denny Marcin and assistant special teams coach Sam Gash, according to an NFL source. Both coaches were holdovers from Herm Edwards' staff http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/story/490053p-412748c.html
