Got a starting OG, legitimiate backup QB, and a rotational DT on Day 1. Not bad. Hoping JD can make some wise moves at OT in the day(s) ahead. Could use 3 additions between now and the draft. Also WR help. Plenty of tackles and receivers out there though. Those markets have been slow. Interior OL was moving faster so good we got one. Side note on Kinlaw, the Jets love disappointing 1st round DTs. Sheldon Rankins, Solomon Thomas, now Kinlaw. The former two ended up being decent (more so Rankins). Would still like to see Quinton Jefferson back and some more depth during the offseason.
Some whispers that there's a "darkhorse team" lurking for Calvin Ridley and the Jets name has been floated out there. Speculation of course so don't take this as the Jets are definitely involved in Ridley but thought it worthwhile. Torn on this one. Adding Ridley to GW would be fantastic and give us a great 1-2 punch but I feel like his price tag would effectively remove us from consideration for any other quality OL that's still available. But, this draft class is very deep at OL so maybe they're thinking they can draft 2-3 guys as starters or depth and spend on Ridley. I'd say we'll know soon enough.
For me, if they can add 1 or both of Ridley and/or Zeitler, I think the first 2 days of FA will be a success. Not sure if both are in the cards with our cap situation but would be nice if they could pull it off.
Ridley sounds nice but agree, probably too expensive for them. I would imagine he'd get north of $15mil/yr and not sure he's worth that. I'd rather see someone like Tyler Boyd, Curtis Samuel, maybe even OBJ at a fraction of the price. And there are other solid vet depth options too Sucks Lazard is uncuttable...
How much $ do we have now in dead cap? I wanna say $25? It it possible that JD is trying to “extend” our Rodgers window by not restructuring any more $, so next year all the dead cap crops, we cut a guy or 2 like JFM + the cap goes up and THEN we swing big? Also, anyone else getting the feeling that our WR’s will be the guys we have and maybe a guy we draft in the 3rd + some bargain basement wr? Do I sound nuts in saying JD will say they are counting on a big bounce back hear from Lazard? Something about Rodgers boosting him and it technically being a contract year for him?
I wish we could post x posts on here again. Makes it so much more esthetically pleasing to scroll through and see them, especially with vids of the signings.
Yeah, Musk sucks for a lot of reasons but this is right at the top of my list as to why I hate the fact that he took over Twitter. We used to be able to just copy and past the post link in here and the post itself would pop up but after he took over that feature went away or doesn't work with the system this board uses anymore.
Sam Darnold just signed a one year deal with the Vikings for $10 mil. They sure do like our sloppy seconds.
agreed. i would like hollywood brown. he has the kind of speed and production on the outside that keeps safeties honest and is missing in this offense. it also looks like he wouldnt break the bank.
Darnell Mooney to the Falcons. 3 years, 39M (26M gtd). A little more than I thought Mooney would get. Figured he'd be closer to 8-10M per season. This could be part of the reason we've been so quiet. The IOL and WR markets seem to be a bit higher than anticipated.
A lot more than I thought. He had a great year in 2021 but has done nothing the last two. Thought he'd get more of a 1 or 2-year, cheaper deal. Huge overpay IMO
Please give me Tyron Smith! If that happens, the rest of the off season can be practice squad signings and I'll be happy. The single most important need on the team.
Wild to me that both Gabe Davis and Darnell Mooney now have larger contracts than Saquon Barkley. But I guess that's where we're at in today's NFL.
Between this and the terrible Gabe Davis contract I’m inclined to say we are better off addressing wide receiver via trade. I can’t imagine what Tyler Boyd is going to get a let alone Calvin Ridley.
Joe Mixon is being traded to the Texans. Curious to find out the trade details as I wanted us to get him.
