I don't think he wanted to resign Huff though. I think he painted himself into a corner with WMD and he has plans on signing some big name splashes.

He already came out as a major loser. Once we have another signing of similar value that 4th is going away anyway. Our pass rush just got drastically worse. This was a reasonable deal, which we could have matched, if our GM was just a little competent.

Everyone and their mother were saying to extend Huff last year when he was cheap. Instead JD did a moronic pick swap and picked McD to replace him, costing us Broderick Jones and Huff. Such a fool.

There aren't exactly big name splashes out there to be signed. I think the opposite is true... he has no plans to make a splash and he's going to shop in the bargain bin, putting all his trust in his talent evaluation and offensive coaching staff. Two things proven to be flawed.

Only way he saves face on this one IMO is if McDonald seamlessly fills Huff's role this year.

Then at least you can understand letting him walk for 17M AAV as long as that money goes towards the offense.

This is a 25 year old guy in his prime, double digit sack, improved every year, home grown. And the deal was reasonable even now, even though we should have extended him for much less a year ago. This one will come back to bite us. And it's his mentor (Roseman) who ends with Huff. This stupidity is beyond frustrating.

I don't disagree that it sucks, I'm just saying if things play out a certain way this year, it'll suck less and be somewhat understandable.

Hunt would have been nice but probably a rich deal.

I have my eyes on Kevin Zeitler and Dalton Risner. Coleman Shelton could be a bargain C/G option too

    No OTs signed yet...

Let's just sign Aaron Jones with all of our money left that's not meant for rookies. Rip that bandaid off now. Waste money on another Aaron Rodgers BFF that will never produce here.

Huff was gone the day Joe Idiot drafted McDonald. Both are part time edge rushers, and you can't use the 15th pick of the draft on one and pay $50M to the other. Second Stupidest pick ever by the jets behind Zach Wilson.

You are right though that the guard market is silting up quickly. There are also some starting-caliber centers but sounds like Tippman is staying at C.

I'm encouraged that no tackles have been signed yet. I'd really rather see AVT dominate inside and focus on upgrading the tackle spots

We need some good signings obviously, but seeing some of the ridiculous money being given out to some guys by other teams is nice. I don't want any Trumaine Johnson or Le'Veon Bell-esque contracts
