Some people are delusional. Huff is a good pass rusher but the Jets can't afford what other teams are going to offer especially with the online needing so much work and McDonald waiting in the wings to play
So basically as fans the priority perspective plan in our current "All In On Aaron" reality here is to root for the Tyron Smith signing, cheer the overpay it takes to get him here when it happens, and then latter just pivot over to complaining about how JD is a clueless idiot for spending big on the guy after he goes down to injury (again). That about sum it up?
We signed nickleback depth from the niners: https://www.yahoo.com/sports/impact-jets-bolstering-nickel-cb-175739215.html
Looks like chuck Clark is coming back too. https://nypost.com/2024/03/10/sports/jets-re-sign-chuck-clark-ahead-of-2024-nfl-free-agency/
Glad Clark is back. He was an underrated pickup last year. I think he'll form a nice duo with Tony Adams. I also hope they bring back Ashtyn Davis. Can't believe I'm saying that Oliver seems like a sensible add if it's a minimum deal. They'll probably let Hall walk so some CB depth may be needed. Not sure if the practice squad guys who played corner against the Eagles are still on the back end of the roster but they showed well in that game
Maybe the Jets play a little bit of chess and move MC2 outside and cut Reed. Reed was very good a couple years ago and got absolutely cooked this year. Time to move on and pay the offense back with that cap space.
I don't think so... Huff doesn't have the size to be a 3 down player, IMO. I think Huff is best served exactly as the Jets use him. A situational pass rusher who excels in rotation. My guess is, whomever picks him up is going to pay him to never leave the field and be very disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I love Huff and wish the team could find a way to keep him. I just don't think the Jets are going to pay what other's are going to shovel his way and they shouldn't.
So the market is beginning to become apparent for the FA QB's. The Jags sent NE a 6th for Mac Jones on Saturday. No way they get squat for Wilson. Wilson will be a cut. Mac made the pro-bowl his first year. Wilson couldn't sniff a winning record. Thoughts...?
You could be right, we'll see. I think his bend, speed, and agility/athleticism could help enable him to make most attempted blockers miss, and therefore his size won't be an issue, or will be less of an issue.
What else are we supposed to do at LT? Yes, it's risky, but the Jets really don't have another viable option at LT. Smith is the best LT who's available. With Becton failing, and JD not bringing in another LT instead of Duane Brown, he painted himself into a corner. If Fashanu falls to #10, the Jets will be covered if/when Smith goes down. If Fashanu doesn't fall to #10 or if he does but JD doesn't take him, then yeah, it could be a disaster. It's possible, however, that JD could trade down and take someone like Jordan Morgan or Barton, and he could be good enough to fill in while Smith is out.
I wanted MC2 to start halfway through last season but they will continue to trot Reed out there I think. Your idea is what a smart GM would do though.
These are not bad depth moves on the cheap. Teams need guys like that, solid back-ups without breaking the bank.
Am I right by saying yeboah coming back is because they need a camp body? Also, I guess the Kuntz project is a flop?
Who is this McDonald you speak of? I don't recall seeing any McDonalds on the field this past season...
