Adam Schefter on X: "Bills are releasing All-Pro safety Jordan Poyer, per source. Free-agent safety market grows. https://t.co/nOcqJk1KA8" / X (twitter.com)
So both safeties that got cut weren't starters? I guess we're not looking at the same team. Sent from my genius mind.
Jordan Poyer is the only starter that got cut. I’m not sure who else you’re referring to. Siran Neal is like a 6th safety and Tre White hasn’t played for the team in like 3 years.
My point was either way you put it, at the very worst a lot of depth was let go. Is Von not cuttable? Sent from my genius mind.
Yeah I know. I'll ask you again... Is Von being cut not any help to the salary cap? Also I know it's not defense but your center got cut too, and your kr? Sent from my genius mind.
Pretty big loss for them. I think they take for granted what it was like having him stick his nose in everywhere
His contract made him not cuttable this year, and I don’t think they would’ve wanted to anyway. He rushed to come back from a bad injury half way through the year, and didn’t have a training camp or much practice time. At his age, I can see how that’s not going to be good. I think they’d like him to get an off-season of rest, ramp back up slowly in camp and have a full season before deciding whether he’s done or not.
It’s really not though. He’s 33 years old, and really started declining 2 years ago. They thought maybe it was his rash of injuries. The bills decided not to bring him back last year. He hit free agency, no one paid him (I don’t even think he had a visit) and then came crawling back to the bills on a cheap deal. He’s a tough guy, and we’ll miss the memories, but it’s clear he’s no longer the Jordan Poyer we’re used to seeing.
Von showed no sign of decline prior to the injury. He could be, now, after the injury, but it’s too early to tell yet in my opinion. At his age, I’d like to give him the off-season of rest and rehab. We’ll see next year if he’s washed up or if he still has some juice left.
Von’s been on the decline since 2019. The contract the Bills gave him is one of the dumbest I can remember in recent memory. Not sure why you’re defending it, especially when they already had a stable of young edge rushers they could rotate. An aging edge rusher at a wildly high premium wasn’t going to put them over the hump.
How was it not? He was a top 5 pass rusher and that’s what they make. He also brought leadership and a Super Bowl pedigree.
