I know. That's the painful part. A regime where they need to save their asses is the most dangerous regime. That said, I am OK with OT if we are picking in the 7-9 range. You can't go wrong with that unless your name is Joe D.
So what are the odds that we stock up on OL that are a perfect fit for zone blocking and then the whole operation gets gutted in 2024 and we switch to an E-P man blocking scheme in 2025?
Something like this. The Chargers are the real WC in this I think. We really need Bowers to go before 10 for one of the OTs to fall. Pats would have to go QB at 3 Arizona would have to go WR at 4 Chargers taking Bowers or Nabers at 5 Giants at 6 go with Nabers Titans at 7 take Foshanu Atlanta at 8 goes D Bears go Rome Odunze Jets get Alt at 10
I think we also need a big time coach go to Washington and want to get their QB right away. Atlanta going Penix after Caleb/Maye/Daniels go 1-2-3 wouldn’t shock me. In theory the Chargers shouldn’t go OT. They have Slater on his rookie deal but it’d probably be very smart to get their bookend tackles for a decade there.
It's possible but probably not very realistic IMO. Still a lot of the draft process to play out though so I wouldn't completely rule it out.
Our big competition in the OT market IMO would be Arizona (if they can't get MHJr.), Tennessee, and Chicago. Ideally, MHJr. is there for Arizona at 4, Tennessee goes with the upside play in Olu, and Chicago takes Nabers/Bowers/Odunze to pair with Caleb Williams. As you've said though, best case scenario for us would be for Williams, Maye, Daniels and Penix to all go in the Top 9. Having 4 QBs go before we pick would set us up in a pretty good spot to draft one of the top 2 OTs or Nabers/Odunze.
As usual, great post! Joe Alt seems like the perfect player for the Jets, but as per their usual, they won a couple of late season games, screwed their draft position, and now it's extremely doubtful that Alt will be there at #10. Fashanu will also be gone, and JD won't be able to trade down and won't "reach" for Fuaga, and we'll be lucky to get one of the 3rd or 4th tier guys, and he'll either suffer a season-ending injury or will be a bust. If JD trades for Adams, we won't add an OT because we won't be able to afford to sign one in FA and will have given up their 1st and 3rd round picks to the Raiders. If I really cared about the Jets any more, I'd wish that they signed Tyron Smith to play LT and Darnell Moody as their #2 WR, and then drafted an OT and WR, but doubt they'll sign either, and will be shocked if they wind up drafting both positions. If they sign Smith, he'll wind up getting injured (as he has most of the last 2-3 years, and miss most of the season. Moody might stay healthy. I've lost all trust in JD, especially since he is letting Rodgers call all the shots. Hackett and the OL Coach (Carter) should have been fired the second the Jets' season was over, but of course, both will be back, and their idea of improving the offensive CS was to hire new RB and WR coaches. I wish you and the other guys good luck, because I think trading for Rodgers is going to wind up being a colossal mistake (it pretty much already has), and it's just going to wind up costing JD and Saleh their jobs (good riddance!).
There's no way the Jets should or will take a QB in the 1st round. While it would be great if their OL and WR corps were set to draft a QB and let him sit and learn from Rodgers for a year or two, that isn't the case. Rodgers would be apoplectic if the Jets drafted a QB at #10 instead of adding an OT or WR. At least when GB took a QB it was towards the end of the 1st round not a top 10 pick.

I don't know of any Jets fans that don't dream about Alt, but sadly, there's no chance that he falls to #10, and there's even less chance that JD will trade up to take him, or at least there should be. There's no way the Jets can afford to trade up.
