It’s a little too early. Last draft Darnell Wright was ranked low 1 and went to the bears with the 10th pick.
Yes, but they aren't thinking long term so I have to think in terms of how things are and not how I want them to be. I would think long term in a heartbeat, I'd much rather be doing that and normally do - which is why I was against Rodgers and all about continuing the rebuild even if it wasn't working perfectly. Building draft picks and keeping the teen young always gives flexibility. But they made moves that made 2026 and beyond, maybe even 2025, dead. They have to think short term and ensure they add guys that help now. It sucks but that's where we are.
Yeah, even if we weren't offered a great haul, I can't imagine we couldn't recoup a 2nd plus another decent pick for the #10 spot. The problem I have at this point is in trusting JD's ability to identify talent - especially OL - given his many other misses. I've done a complete 180 on my opinion of him as GM. If a consensus OT wasn't there at #10, would he really be able to know if another OT would as good? I'm doubtful. Of course if he trades back the uncertainty becomes greater, but he at least gets more quality picks, and he might increase his chances of success.
Didn’t listen to that podcast yet but here is more on this. https://x.com/jason_otc/status/1746602745153335768?s=46&t=RCU1EI_2cEZzRLtLmi7Csg https://overthecap.com/restructure https://overthecap.com/transactions-table
Most of our lineman that failed here and left in the last 4 years or so went on to having a resurgence elsewhere. GVR, Fant, Moses, Edoga…. Conversely, good lineman have come here and completely turn to shit. You draft an OL and you will watch our coaching completely ruin him. I’d rather find OL if FA as much as we can, if only in hopes a confident vet can see through the bullshit coaching and just go out and ball.
With a 41 year old QB coming off an Achilles injury, no ability to protect him, and no QB of the future (if the 41 year old injured QB can even play well), having a top 10 pick and using it to draft a TE would be the most jets thing of all time.
Trading the pick for a crappy TE and a second round pick designed to be used on a kicker would be the most Jets thing ever. Thank God not even the Jets are that... oh wait, never mind.
We just need to hope 3-4 QBs come off the board in the first 9 picks. Then there is a chance we get either Alt or Nabers.
Pretty much no chance Alt is there at our pick, and a slim chance Nabers is. I do like Nabers a lot though and would be thrilled if we got him.
Would it be too much to ask for one of them to have a teeny-weenie bit of THC in their system-- just enough for their stock to drop to 10?
Moorestead is getting old so the Jets should pick their punter of the future. They need a franchise punter.
The Jets have glaring needs on the o-line and at wide receiver. Bowers would not be a wise pick at #10 unless they fill their o-line needs in free agency. In the Actuarial profession, we call that...unlikely.
It’s too bad we don’t have a second round pick because I think Bo Nix is going to be the steal of the draft and would be great to groom him behind ARod
