Off the street? Reed was a free agent that’s the 18th highest paid corner in the league in terms of average salary per year. JFM was a good acquisition and then we overpaid him and he disappeared only to appear when he’d rough the passer for a year and a half. He’s due $16 million next year and is a huge upgrade wart on the cap.

Nights like tonight usually get GMs fired. Flacco and Moore were in the building last year

Rogers likes them, so they're bulletproof.

Tonight's game, again illustrates just how dumb Woody is.
Why is it Flacco looks like an all-world QB, against the 'championship caliber' Jets D, when on the Jets, he looked like he was PWI (playing while intoxicated)?
Why is it that Elijah looks like an all-world WR, against the great Saleh D, when the Jets couldn't find a role for him?
It's coaching...the CS' evaluation of talent, player utilization, game-planning, discipline, creativity, stubbornness sticking with scheme, etc, etc, etc.
But most of all, it's the imaginary belief that they were a a QB away last season, & deciding to let it ride, with a has-been QB, even though the problems of '23, are the same we saw in '22, when the Jets lost their last 7 of 8 games. Everything was ignored.
Unfortunately for us, that's the extent of their imagination. Where imagination is needed, in scheme, game-planning, player utilization, etc, they're clueless... and Woody likes what he sees.

It'll be 5:59 again next season, & groundhog day will repeat again, except Woody never learns, & it'll keep repeating til he & his family sell, or just get out of the way, & hire an experienced football brain to run the organization.

That aside... to all of you, a happy, healthy, prosperous New Year, to you & all those you hold dear!

Reminds me how all the people of the land were celebrating the fabulous new wardrobe their emperor was sporting.

I certainly think a house cleaning will happen if they fail in 2024. No way they get another "pass" on the season that Johnson gave them this year. Here is the problem. Does anyone trust Woody Johnson to get the next hire right. When the Giants sucked in the 60's and 70's weren't Giants fans burning their tickets in the parking lot in protest. As I recall the league helped the Giants by recommending George Young to run the football ops. That is what the Jets and Johnson need if next year is a failure. Johnson needs help in bringing someone in to run the entire football ops. Someone who will hire the next GM and go from there.

Who were the two Bozos the league recommended to Woody last time? Ron Wolf and Charlie Casserly? Both guys are completely out of touch with today's NFL.

Good point. I hope 2024 is a good year and the Jets don't clean house. But if they do, I don't trust Johnson to make the right hire. The organization is spinning its wheels here.

We'll be lucky if there still is a team by the end of 2024 after Douglas goes through win now desperation mode this offseason.

Not the whole story but - Browns have a top 5 OL and the Jets have probably the worst OL in the NFL - it makes a huge difference especially for immobile QBs like Flacco

The Browns also have depth along the offensive line. They played tackle #4 and 5 coming into the season with Geron Christian being signed by the Browns on Halloween. They are on QB #4, were down their top two receivers after Moore got hurt and star running back for most of the season (offense was basically built around him).

That’s why I’m kind of tired about hearing the crying over injuries for the Jets.

Absolutely. Good coaches find ways to get their teams through injuries. The Jets never do.

Yeah they were responsible for Maccagnan. Idzik was an independent consulting firm.

The Browns HAD a top 5 o-line. By this time of year they are on the 3rd, 4th and 5th player just like everyone else, including the Jets. The difference...the Browns have a competent coaching staff that adjusts and places their players in positions to succeed.

It’s just a disgusting contrast in Management and Coaching

The Browns shared the basement of the NFL with NY Jets a couple of years ago and now they clinched a playoff spot

First step for us is to get a brainy GM and Coach

Cleveland replaced Freddie Kitchens with an ivy alum Stefanski (Penn) Miami has Mike McDaniel (Yale)
I am ready for own R Fitzpatrick (Harvard)to get the job and stop with the dumb commercials

    Can we do worse???

I'm down with this. At this point I'll take damn near "anything" over what we have.
