The Mariners have given up on Kelenic, and traded him to the Braves. Even with Cano, and Diaz missing the 2023 season, the trade has on balance worked out better for the Mets than for the Mariners. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id...ading-outfielder-jarred-kelenic-others-braves
I didn't realize there was a Mets thread in here. Just what I need, spend a lot of time whining about them too. Awesome.
Damn, Ronny Mauricio tore his ACL. https://nypost.com/2023/12/12/sports/mets-ronny-mauricio-has-torn-acl-in-offseason-injury-disaster/
Terrible news for the Mets. Baty and Vientos will get all the chances they need, I guess, unless Stearns has less faith in them than he was saying.
I read an article somewhere that the Mets were interested in Vlad Guerrero Jr. He's arb eligible for the next 2 years so Toronto will want a lot. I get that he's 5 years younger than Alonso but he's way too much of a free swinger, although he doesn't strike out as much as Alonso he does have a LOT of terrible AB's still at this stage. Alonso has turned into a nice defensive player, his biggest knock is that he's basically a Schwarber clone with a better glove. He struggled to get to 20 2b's this year. He needs to be in the 35-45 range to be a more complete hitter. It will be interesting to see what they do.
Scherzer has back surgery (herniated disk), and is out until at least midseason 2024. What a joke of a contract that was. DeGrom isn't scheduled to be back until mid-2024 either. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/39119999/rangers-max-scherzer-midseason-back-surgery
Steve Phillips of MLB Network says that if Yamamoto comes to NY, it will be with the Mets Not really sure how much I buy into this report considering he worked for the team, but we'll see
Can anyone clue me in on why the Brewers would trade a starting pitcher for an injured minor league pitcher? I don't get it, but I'm but a huge baseball guy. Sent from my SM-F926U using Tapatalk
