Ok so that’s the point I was trying to make before you made it a pissing contract about money owed versus cap hit and went into your usual rambling run on paragraphs.

The Jets have three to four players up for big extensions and not a single offensive lineman or receiver (other than GW) worth their salt past 2024. One if Tippman ends up worth it. We are in terrible long term shape.

didn't make it a pissing contest at all. just explaining Rodgers did us a favor and yet fans are still shitting on him and i don't get it. we trade for a HOF QB who's even at 40 is the best Qb we've had in well probably our history, we pay way under market value, he takes a huge paycut and somehow fans still spin it into a negative.

sorry If i have more to offer then a "negative tweet worth of info" forums like this are made for actual conversations. they are old school for older people. those who have the attention span of a fly should go be on twitter or x or whatever they call it.

as far as being in bad shape and beyond we really aren't.
we can easily have 60ish mil this offseason after cuts/trades and more draft picks. we can sign an OT and draft one in the top 10. it's a good draft for OTs. 3 in the top 10 and 5 should go in the 1st.
we could probably recoup a 2nd rounder as well between trading later picks (we have an extra 4th) and zach and maybe JFM if we want to keep huff over him or maybe not. we have flexibility
we do need a WR but again draft and FA is coming.
2025 we have currently 90m which will go down with FA signings/draft picks in 2024 but that will also fill holes. taking an OT top 10 in 2024 means we are locked in there for 4-5 years, we have tippman as you said, there is still the hopes that warren or mitchell could work out. mitchell just needs to bulk up. warren needs to stay healthy. vera tucker is likely on his option year at that point too. and if we sign a FA OT thats 4 positions already accounted for and possibly 5 if mitchell/warren/late round pick work out.
the NFL changes so fast to say we have nothing 2 years from now doesn't make any sense. if I go to 2025 the saints have the most players signed at 38 and still negative cap room, the cards only have 19 signed. we are sitting at 35. the niners in comparison have 37 but only 8m in space and need to sign purdy long term as thats his final year and with the way he's playing and inflation that could be close to 60m

it had everything to do with it because you want to take a financial hit for a guy who is actually playing

Put down the crack pipe bro. I didn't say anywhere in there I would want Wilson as a starter. The Jets made it clear they didn't want him as the starter, and they should've gone and gotten a different quarterback other than Aaron Rogers. But Woody Johnson wants his big names! Stop extrapolating out everybody's thoughts and coming up with bogeyman versions of the story, sometimes it works, and then in this situation, you are so far off base that you ran to third instead of first.

no you want to bring in the players you want and be under the cap. every team does it. every team has dead cap. it's the way the NFL operates. it's the norm.
perfect example is TB. they did the same with brady to make a 2 year run. he's retired and they have 81m in dead money (36% of the cap this season) 35 of which is brady.
rams have 78m in dead money
packers have rodgers counting 40m against their cap this season, more then he counts on ours.

who else? carr was an option but he's making the same and has been playing very poorly. if we gave carr that money people here would bitch about "we could have paid rodgers that" there is no winning with fans sometimes.

the Bucs and Rams won Superbowls with the QBs they took a financial hit with. The Jets are 5-9 and eliminated from post season play.

    their Qbs didn't get injured
stafford won his SB year 1, the following year as defending champs they went 5-12. stafford was 3-6 and went on IR. mayfield came in as the backup and went 2-6.
brady won year 1, did good year 2, then finished 8-9 year 3 as the team fell apart around him.
funny how these SB teams suck when injuries pile up

All I gotta say is I only have a few people on Ignore, and based on the responses here - it proves I can't ignore them as much as I'd like...

    From Cannizzaro

“if the Jets don’t take a QB and Wilson, whom Rodgers has taken under his wing, remains the Jets quarterback answer behind him, then we’ll have confirmation that Rodgers is running the team.”

Hopefully taking a tackle with our first pick and maybe our dumbass GM can hit on a late round guard or 2 to fix this OL. This idea you need to draft 5 starting OL in the top 40 to be good is the biggest load of horse shit ever. Douglas needs to be fucking better, that's it.

that is a stupid statement. I think you need a social media break.
it most likely means the jets are in win now mode so a rookie QB doesn't help, see rodgers as the QB for the next year maybe 2, aren't in good position to take a good QB, and sees zach as a capable backup.
    but lets not be reasonable.

You just went through a whole exercise in explaining how the cap is hamstrung a couple of years from now, so who cares if they're making the same thing on the surface? I don't know why a guy like you who is clearly knowledgeable and has in-depth understanding of how these things work would say that their cap hits were the same just because they made the same amount of money. Earlier, you want to discount the fact that we are going to be hammered with space in a couple of years because we're paying less now as if the money was coming directly from our pockets.

I'm not going to do the revisionist history thing, and neither are you. Because if we do that, then we have to account for the fact that A.. Derek Carr is definitely better than Zach Wilson, even if it's not by much at his worst. And B. Aaron Rodgers played four plays. As you said in another thread, the best ability is availability.

But you know what we thing we are gonna play? The have and not have thing. We would have our second round pick last year, a second round pick this coming year, our 13th overall from last year rather than 15th (I know,I know, they wanted McDonald anyway), and likely – 2-3 more wins this year. Give or take. I'm willing to stipulate that Zach got us something because of his escapability, but I'm also willing to assume Derek Carr would have made the difference in some of the games where Zach didn't get it done. And we will have the ability to get out from Derek Carr much easier and less expensively than we would Aaron Rodgers. Even if it was just trading him, because he would still be in his mid 30s at worst as opposed to 41 or 42.

You know what we wouldn't have? Randall Cobb, Alan Lazard, Nathaniel Hackett, Billy Turner, Dalvin Cook, and who knows what else. I am not willing to believe that Alan Lazard came here on his own, nor am I willing to believe that Nathaniel Hackett was a random hire.

Aaron Rodgers was always high risk, high reward. Unfortunately, we got the risk. Derek Carr was much much less risk, much less reward, but at the time I was much more willing to give up less for less. And I turned out to be right. Unfortunately.

Yeah that pretty much goes for the entire staff, too. I expect Keith Carter to be a sacrificial lamb, and maybe another position coach.

Nah, If it dont work out in 2024 (atleast make playoffs). JD, Salah and A-rod will probably retire then and you start over with EVERYONE on the same timeline. GM + Coach + QB

Well, Rodgers has come out and said he has trust in this CS so, it really doesn't matter if they win or not as no one is getting moved until Rodgers signs off on it. Maybe Rodgers didn't have that intent, but this FO/CS has bent backwards so far to please him that they gave up any real control over what happens and that includes Dickless Woody.
