Why would any of the top HC candidates come here with a lame duck GM? You normally sign coaches for 4 years. That means you are going to give JD a 4 year extension. That guy sure as hell does not deserve to be here for a decade. If you are firing the HC, you have to get rid of the GM. None of this half ass measured shit we had with Rex + Tanny + Idzik
We should have done what the Chargers did last week after one final embarrassment - This morning, the GM and HC should have been fired... I'd have done it in the locker room after the game yesterday, but that's just me...
I have a feeling that Woody doesn’t view Douglas as a lame duck at all and he’ll get another head coaching hire.
My take is that even if he's as bad as he's been this year, he's "probably" better than Zach Wilson was for while and 4 plays with Aaron Rodgers - but more importantly, we have all our draft picks, we don't have all the guys that we dragged over here to make Rodgers happy, and we likely don't have Hackett. I'm not willing to believe that his hiring had nothing to do with Rodgers - I have to accept it because of the timing, but deep down I know we'd be better off with a lousy QB and our picks and different players than we would with Rodgers taking up salary on IR, Zach Wilson starting most of the year, and all the shrapnel wounds we have now. But this being the Jets, it would have worked out similarly anyway. Who am I kidding?
I'm so glad you are here to be the sole decider as to how much garbage the fanbase should be forced to consume without complaining.
My only "argument" (and it's a weak one) as to why Kotite is still worse is because HE didn't give a shit. He was collecting a paycheck and doing absolutely nothing at all. And this guy is a good guy who's trying his best - and is still inept. Maybe I just lost my own argument....hmmm...
That would’ve been an interesting combination. Someone like Carr with a brain running LaFleur’s west coast offense where you just have to hit the wide open receiver within 5 yards of the LOS.
The Jets had him in the building in what was, in retrospect, their one weak attempt to create the illusion that Rodgers wasn't their only answer. So who knows if he didn't want us - we certaintly didn't want him.
I think you're right, but if that's the move, then fine. I'll be with it. I won't agree with it, but I just don't want half ass measured shit. If Douglas is picking another HC, then he needs an extension to match it.
can you imagine that Jets lose 10+ games for 4th year in a row but the GM in charge of that gets an extension and the right to pick his 3rd Head Coach clown organization
He might've been more open to the idea if they didn't have Rodgers' jizz on their chins the whole time he was here interviewing
It would be the TOTALLY Jet thing to do, And we would get to watch them go from Bad to WORSE. That guy couldn't win with a generational QB, offensive weapons and multiple pro bowl caliber players on defense.
This would not happen under JD. You still need the OLine. Until JD is gone and the line is rebuilt, no QB is safe.
Agreed, they are at a point where there's only two options. Keep everybody if you're going to roll with Aaron Rodgers again, or tell Rodgers to fuck himself and deal with it and literally fire everybody. Can't keep a couple of guys and hope to attract anyome of value. You have to sweep everything out the door and bring in an interior decorator to take it from the top, so to speak.
