He’s really impressive and fun to watch. I think the Giants have a legit franchise QB on their hands with that kid.
Way too soon to tell, but DeVito's a great story. After what happened with Purdy, you can't rule anything out. What's impressive is just how much he's improved in the last few weeks. When the Giants first put him in, he looked like an UDFA who had no business on an NFL roster. Now, he's a functioning quarterback who can make the throws, read a defense and lead an offense. The other players seem to like him and respond to him. At the very least, he's ensuring himself of a nice career as a back-up. As Jets fans, this is what we expected but never got from Wilson in his rookie year.
Wild to think that 1.5 months ago they wouldn't let this kid throw and now he's having game winning drives.
The guy averages 5.5 sacks a game and still has a QBR of 98. Even in his first ever action against us he ran for their only TD. He's the real deal. By this time next year he'll probably be a cult hero.
I'm not a believer. By this time next year he will be a fleeting memory I think but I am rooting for him cause its a cool story to follow
I heard a pretty good analogy today. The last time we saw a local sports figure come out of nowhere and get this type of adulation was about 10 years ago with Jeremy Lin and Linsanity with the Knicks.
Let's see how many InstaModels the guy goes through this summer and see what he looks like on the other side.
When you get terrible protection and still lead your team down the field, and win games 3 weeks in a row, you ain't Browning Nagal.
DeVito's agent said after he went undrafted he was receiving UDFA interest from a handful of teams. The Jets only offered DeVito a try out
