I clicked in to post this. After watching the Hackett hire happen last winter this just kinda fits the continuing narrative of fail atm.
He was a defensive coordinator in his past life so it’s even funnier if you were taking that into account for the Jets making the move. I thought Staley was a lucky dipshit when they beat the Chiefs by converting a bunch of 4th downs in his first year. He’s also the guy that said pressures are more important than sacks on the field. Huh?!? Analytics are good and should be looked at. But you can’t run a football team like you run a baseball team by solely looking at a spreadsheet. It simply doesn’t add up in a game heavily built on emotion and momentum as well as 11 players working in sync on every play. — On another note - how frustrated is that ownership group? They shelled out $170 million or so in guaranteed money (only 2 years of Mack so I don’t feel like doing the math) for Bosa, JC Jackson and Khalil Mack and only one guy was on the field for them yesterday.
Well, I was more kidding around.....but as head coach at least it *would* basically be the same application of apparent logic that they used with the Hackett hire. That being you scan the recently fired coach list, and then literally pick out the only guy on it you can actually make a pretty clear case just did an even worse job at what you are looking to hire him to do then the dude you are now looking to replace in the event Saleh was to get fired. This is how WE do things nowadays
Telesco is one of the better GM’s in the league imo. His coaches sucked ass. Some team is going to get an excellent GM who turns their franchise around.
