"Sources" once again. Looks like @BrowningNagle had this right. (I think it was him) If true, it also makes sense of a lot of what happened this week, and further shows the Jets organization to be a bunch of amateurs for even going back to him. https://www.deseret.com/2023/12/8/2...rade-zach-wilson-after-the-season-byu-cougars
Very well could be the mother, probably doesn't particularly appreciate her son getting dicked around like this. Mods, please close this thread. Didn't realize this was already being discussed in the other one. Sorry about that!
I don't believe the Jets told him this. I believe that it's a definite possibility, but I don't believe they would tell Wilson at this point.
I have thought about it and I think it's possible that Saleh did a buddy buddy player's coach move and tried to give Zach hope for a fresh start on his rookie contract with a new team. If Saleh is texting with Joe Benigno then he's not all there anymore.
Somebody is smoking crack. No team would give even a 7th rounder for this guy--despite his physical talent. I'm sure the Jets would love to trade him, but I don't think the league recognizes trading a player for a half-eaten can of Pringles.
Exactly. I think sometimes we take things a little too literally. They didn't have to sit him down and say "kid we're trading you". Just like Zach Wilson didn't necessarily have to say "fuck you I'm not playing".
I don't get why Saleh would tell him that... and I'm not saying he didn't. And then to let (or ask) him to start... it makes no sense. Truly a strange season...
Another bullshit report, just like Russini's one. Just like hers made no sense, where Zach was asked to start when Boyle was already named a starter, this one doesn't make sense either. Heck these guys may not even be here in the offseason, they need to win some games first. No one is telling Zach now he will be traded. But one thing is apparent: there are a lot of leaks with this team now, which is not a good thing. Cleaning house is in order.
So if this is true, why are the Jets playing him exactly? You’re out of the playoffs and he won’t be here next year. Someone make it make sense.
That's the thing, it doesn't make sense either way. Benching the guy, then going back to him two weeks later? No matter what scenario you paint, starting him this week doesn't make sense so I'm trying to figure out what makes sense before this week. Lol
This was my question about this story. Who in their right mind is going to give up something for Zach after the way he's played? The only possible way I see that happening is if Douglas were to be fired and then manages to find another team dumb enough to make him the GM and then he turns around and trades for Zach so he can have his hand-picked "franchise" QB in place for his next gig. There isn't another GM in the league dumb enough to give up assets for Wilson at this point.
Hope he plays well enough so someone does give up a 7th instead of demanding a future 3rd or 4th from the Jets just to take on his final contract year.
No shit.. The HC of the NYJs is probably the biggest one outside of Sack's mom. I think all that favoritism has created a lot of resentment and that leak was done on purpose by someone who is fed up.
Of course they will try to trade Wilson. They'd take a conditional 7th if they can, as it's more about shedding that last year of guaranteed money. Turning back to him again at this point is bizarre, but then again JD refused to staff another option which is even more bizarre, The handling of this season, specifically the QB position, makes the team look like clowns. And it was all so predictable, which is what really makes it so frustrating.
