There wasn't enough hard evidence to prosecute them, so Gabby Petito's parents went after them in civil court. Now that it's no longer supposition that Laundrie's parents knew he murdered her, they'll probably settle. Here's something that surfaced a few months ago. He was hitting her. What a turd sandwich that guy was. If his parents had a shred of decency, they would have taken pains to convince him to turn himself in. Instead, they lied and stalled. The consensus is she wanted out of the relationship because he was controlling and abusive, but made the grave mistake of showing her cards. He flipped out and strangled her.
In retrospect, it makes all the sense in the world that the parents were corroborative scumbags. He did not become what he was in a vacuum.
