That will go well with his accuracy problems noted in the link posted earlier. https://mattwaldmanrsp.com/2019/02/...film-room-no-146-qb-brett-rypien-boise-state/
Just pointing out that you are comparing ourselves to a Mike Tomlin coached team there. On a sustained success consideration level. I mean....c'mon
Another enticing guy who is right there except for one major factor. How many more of these do we have to endure?
well of course sustained success takes time hence the word sustained, but i can't ever remember a time where we had that. we had a couple of good 1-2 year runs but in between lots of "rebuilding" and dysfunction. which is why I can't personally understand why fans are ready to go right back into rebuilding mode when 5 months ago we were talking about a SB run this year so clearly someone must be doing something right. we are a healthy o-line and a healthy QB away from being a playoff team at least. we have some assets to fix things in the offseason. rodgers can overcome bad playcalling it's really best for status quo next year and the re-evaluate
obviously tomlin is a much better coach then anything we've ever had. he's a top 3 in the NFL. but he was promoted from within, behind a HOF HC, and the steelers have had only 3 HCs in the past 40 years. we have like 10 times that. at some point we need to pick a lane
Mike Tomlin was hired away from Tampa Bay by the Vikings and then hired away from Minny to the Steelers. Not internal.
Suprised it was him, and not Trevor, and Trevor looked a few notches worse. But atleast now we finally have a real answer at qb in rypien. Championship incoming
you are correct. I thought he was the DC for some reason. really sucks that they hired 1 and picked right and he's been there for over 15 years and won a SB. but he did walk into a good team coming off a SB win 2 years earlier, with a FQB already which helps alot. it's insane he was a DC for 1 year and then got a HC job and has done so well.
I fixed it for you. I left the rest of it in for context, but there was nothing necessary after that, certainly not a but. Doesn't matter what he walked into, he's been here for a million years and has continued the sustained success throughout. That's the entire point of this discussion about the Steelers and organizations like that. Anybody who comes in is properly vetted, walks into a good situation and as long as they don't fuck it up, they will be there for a long time with continued success.
which was the main point. everyone who has walked into here has walked into a shit show they needed to fix. I can't remember a time where we passed along even a decent team to a new regime. closest would probably be herm. parcells was 29-19 in 3 years, was leaving the team to retire and give it to bellichick and he fucked us over. so parcells stayed in the FO and groh was the interim HC and went 9-7 after that in his 1 year. we had just drafted a FQB, 2 stud edge rushers and more (thanks to 4 1sts ) and we had pretty stacked teams with a lot of youth and talent and then it got wasted on bad coaching and all went to shit after that. it's kinda crazy to look back and go from 1997-2010 we were actually pretty good. probably the best stint in our history.
