1. Run Blocking Guard Chad Did Pretty Good Without Any Offensive Run Threat And Also Clemmons May Turn Out To Be The Real Deal Washington Might Be Able To Handle It As A Full Time Full Season Back And Houston Would Also Be Better With A Quality Run Blocking Line 2. Big Strong Quality Nose Guard 3. Shut Down Corner Back I Will Let Tangini Figure Out Who To Plug Into These Spots But These Are Definately The Areas We Need To Upgrade Everything Else Is Gravy
Who capitilizes the first letter of every word. Leaving Caps Lock on is one thing but that just seems tedious. Unless you are coming up with a book title that is. Those are definately 3 of our needs though. In case no one else knew.
throw in kickoff specialist--Nugent good kicker but his kickoffs stink and always put opponent on short field
I Thought It Was Cool.. Who Cares? I think we will be able to acomplish everyone of these needs. Why not a shut down corner too? Samuel, eh? Yuuummmmm..
Yes this is true... We used to have such a CRUSHING O-LINE... I feel 100% that for at least the next 2 years our left side is solid (i figure kendall will retire within 3 yrs.. maybe not though.) We do need a RT though..
Theres only 1 true shut down corner ... His name is Champ Bailey and i dont think he will be leaving Denver anytime soon
I agree. Improve the lines and our team gets much better. We have solid players almost everywhere else. After that though I would look at replacing our TEs besides Baker to upgrade that position a bit. Ryan was supposed to be a great blocker but I didn't see him really help the line much and he wasn't a great receiver. I honestly like our WRs and think McCareins made some big plays late and could do more if utilized. Coles was solid and Cotchery should just get better. Add in Smith and actually throw him the ball more and that's 4 solid receivers who can all go deep, all break tackles, and all with pretty good hands. I wouldn't mind us looking to upgrade the FB position and possibly CB if we can find someone who's truly that much better then Barrett/Miller/etc. Depth at LB wouldn't hurt either though I think Vilma will do much more this year. If I recall correctly there was an article showing that Bruschi had similar "nothing special" stats his first year in the 3-4. Hobson had a good year in my opinion and made many big plays. Barton was solid and Thomas had a breakout year for him.
NT - We need a huge NT. DRob doesn't get it done there. Move his ass to DE if he proves hes capable. RB - I love Washington as a scatback, keep Houston, cut Barlow, find a big time runner. Either Turner, Portis (I don't think this will happen), or through the draft. You can never have enough Running backs. OLB - We need a better pass rush. Period. I like Thomas, it would be nice if we got something from Schlegel next year. Chatham, a joke and hopefully gone. Kassel on ST I can see. But has no business playing in our base defense. CB - Asante Samuel would definitely be an upgrade but I'm not sure if what hes going to cost is going to be worth it. otherwise I think we are ok there. RT - Clements was decent at best in my opinion, this definitely needs to be addressed somewhere in the draft FB - We dont have one TE - I like Baker and think hes a good pass catcher, but we could use a run blocking TE. I know Kyle Brady can't catch or run a route anymore, but the guy is a hell of a run blocker out there.
I really believe that one of the factos in the Jets lack of a pass rush is that the defensive schemes had to cover for a suspect secondary. If the Jets had better coverage from the secondary, they be more aggressive with the front seven. (you can't expect the 3 DL in the 3-4 to generate a consistent pass rush.) Therefore, I am on-board with the Jets top needs being a DT/RB/OG/CB in some order. I typically think you build from the inside out, so DT/OG (#1,#2), CB #2, RB #4
No way we should draft a OG over a RB. We have a huge whole at RB. Washington is ok but its a hole none the less. Our running attack scares NO ONE!
DE is where its at, we need to be able to rush the pass on the outside without sending 5,6,7, guys, i say DE, RB, CB, and yes of course another great run blocking lineman, preferably an OG. Like i always say O-Line is the most overlooked (group of) positions. If you build a good O-Line you will automatically be a better team. More time for CP (or whatever future QB plays) in the pocket, and bigger holes to run thru for Washington. And i have to agree with dBlizter there IS only one shutdown corner in the league, and that is Champ Bailey, saying that, we still need another CB
We need a BIG BRUISER RB, a BIG FAT STRONG DT and a roadgrader ROG a pass rusher and a shut-down CB. ( easier said than done) BUT,if we can address one or two of these needs in the FA market,(prior to April) then our draft will be a beautiful day (taking 3 picks in day one) ...Day two is BAP.
I think we will go after Asante Samuels but we will see. I think that DE is our biggest need. Although I do not think that we will be big players in free agency, we could really upgrade our team with Adalius Thomas and Asante Samuels. Of course, if we wanted to tip more towards a Madden plan, you sign Briggs as well and trade Vilma for a high first round pick.
