I apologize for my lack of commitment to the tank displayed yesterday in spite of starting this thread, this was a moment of weakness I am truly ashamed of and it will never happen again.
The Jets are playing horrendously so Rodgers doesn't start again this season an re-injure his Achilles. Very thoughtful.
As of now, we currently have the 7th overall pick. 4 teams have the same record as us, and we have the 2nd hardest strength of schedule among those 4 teams which hurts us there. We need to keep losing every game. A top 5 pick is in play, but we have to lose out in all likelihood.
We're going to finish 4-13. We just have to watch the other teams to see how many can best that mark.
One thing I've learned over the years is to NEVER count out the Jets to do the dumbest, least pragmatic thing. Losing out on Lawrence was the most egregious recent example. We lose to the Phins and Texans, but I'm not so sure about the Browns and Commanders and there's almost 0 chance we lose to the Patriots in the final week. Why? Because Belichick is pragmatic and smart. He'll be competing for Caleb Williams or Drake Maye, you know, guys who could actually turn a team around. We'll be convincing ourselves that winning 1 extra game will somehow transform our "culture" into a winning one.
I doubt very seriously he'll be back next year in NE. He'll most likely be looking to make sure that he doesn't go out a loser in his last game, against the Jets of all teams.
I can't wait until it completely botch, mutilate, screw up and destroy our next number one draft pick.
Jets will pick in Top 7. No way to catch the Panthers and Patriots. Pats are tanking with purpose to grab one of the 2 top 2QB's. There is a chance Jets will pick 3rd but most likely we will win a game and pick within Top 7. A QB or a franchise LT is welcome. We shall see.
I remember at the time arguing with some folks on this board who didn't want to lose to get Lawrence with that same argument. All while Jax was doing everything they can not to win a game, even benching Minshew for a completely washed up guy. And guess who is winning now and who is losing. Though that year we were not getting #1 pick regardless. Belichick would not allow us to get Trevor, and would completely tank just like he will against us this year. Heck, if Rodgers really wants to come back and play this year no matter what, NE is the one.
That is a good point, but he's shown a remarkable commitment to the tank so far this year so idk. It also might be a Kraft decision more than a Belichick one. Will depend if Belichick wants to screw us or Kraft more badly on his way out.
Belichick will lose last game unless it does not impact draft position. Chargers only scored 6 points today and still beat them 6:0. Also, he will actually help us if he wins. Screwing us means losing. It's a win win for him.
I remember all the insults a certain poster from North Carolina threw at me when I pointed that out at the time.
