This is exactly where I am. I want to know if this team looks better with him at the helm. I do not want to go through another offseason of anticipation. I'd rather know for sure, and if he injures himself again, well at least we know that going into free agency and the draft.
Well I’d like confirmation of that. Obviously they should hold everything up if they’re on the hook for the money if he gets injured and retire. But I don’t think that’s the case to be honest. That doesn’t make sense.
I know if a player retires, the team gets money back. And if a player gets injured, the team doesn't (which is why we don't get this year's money back). This seems like it would be one of those gray areas where Rodgers could claim that the reason he can't play in 2024 is he's injured, and the team would have to fight him to get money back. Like sure, he could announce his retirement on the day of the re-injury, but he could also drag it out for months.
Honestly think it would be idiotic for him to play this year. You can't let a guy you're pinning all your hopes and dreams on next season. Coming off an achilles injury play in meaningless games behind this o-line. Especially when he's trying to push the time table medically which a lot of people myself included is skeptical on. I don't want to hear about Rodgers the rest of the season. There's 6 games left. Let me watch this miserable team in peace!
with this oline? Stupid. but I’m sure ole Woodrow wants to take our frowns(and wallets), and turn them upside down by giving a glimmer of hope for next year. So we line up again to buy into the product. Then they have 18 weeks as that fails, to come up with the selling point for the following year.
Quoting a reinjury rate after only three months does not sound at all realistic for today, much less 12 years ago. At this stage I don't care at all what they do with him. I just want this entire experiment to end so the next greatest thing can begin. World peace may ensue prior to Jets success.
I've come to this realization as well. If Rodgers can come back and play regardless what the team record is good for him, but if this means Saleh and crew are here again next season, then please just end it.
I'm not sure how to feel about it. On one hand yeah what many say is true why come back in a lost season? Why risk it? On the other hand it would engender good will with the fan base. It would show he's not just another guy here to cash a paycheck he's really trying to help this team do something. Heck even if only to beat Washington and end the Patriots 15 game winning streak against the Jets it would be worth it. The risk of injury is always there it's football and this is his JOB this is what he does and it's a NFL game.
But why? At this point him coming back will only hurt the team. It's just a simple fact of human biology that after 3 months Achilles is not fully healed. No matter what Rodgers has done in his rehab. And we are out of the play-off picture. If we were in, and the injury is 80-90% healed, it might make sense for Rodgers to take a risk, because getting to play-offs and competing for the SB is a rare occasion. But now that we are out, there is no upside. Imagine what happens if he is reinjured or get a new injury. Who is going be the QB next year? Even a guy like Carr is not available this season, it was very rare someone of his quality became available due to the morons of the Raiders regime, which have been fired half way through the season. Usually starting QBs are simply not available on the market. We are going to have basically a Minshew like player starting next year. Which is better what we have now, but it's no where near what could have with Rodgers. And we could still sign Minshew as a back-up. So, no update, but major downside in his playing: - Higher risk of re-injury of achilless - Behind this abomination of the oline JD built, he can get unrelated injury. - Might win a few meaningless games and hurt draft pick which could actually be a star OT on rookie deal - Winning a couple of meaningless games will mask the incompetence of JD and coaching staff just enough so they will stay for another year So, what exactly is the point here?
it could accelerate the departure of everyone, including Zach, Saleh, and Douglas. Thats exactly why it won’t happen though.
NO WAY! He will get injured again behind this OL. At this point play for the draft pick. Maybe if they finish bad enough they can trade down for a boat load of picks and help fix this offense
Rodgers has a massive contract, a major reason why the Jets won’t be able to upgrade next year. He has brought in nothing but shit. Hackett, Lazard, Boyle, Cobb, Turner, Cook, all brought in FOR him. All shit He stands on the sideline, threatening to come back if they don’t suck. (They suck) then he goes on the punter show talking shit every week. He talks shit about how quickly he is going to be back, how his rehab is different, how he’s listening to dolphins have sex and it’s gonna bring him back quicker (maybe he was kidding about that, who knows, who cares) Rodgers owes it to the team and the fan base to come back and play. In my opinion.
Best case scenario Rodgers does make it back and plays this year. Don’t wish an injury but either he gets beaten up so bad by this shitty oline or just realizes that this team and CS are going nowhere and decides to hang it up. He gets the bragging rights of being the fastest to recover from Achilles and we get to blow the whole thing up.
