Nice of rodgers buddies that we brought in to really step up and play there a game. They have been a huge help, along with Hackett .
Who would this even be? What "experienced coach with a track record" is even available that anyone would want? Whether or not you could convince them to come to this shithole of dysfunction is a realistic concern--whether this human even exists is only theoretical. Never mind that the Chargers and Commanders are both likely to be hiring new HCs this offseason, and even as a life-long Jets fan, I'd take either of those jobs over working for Woody (to be fair, that wouldn't be the case if Danny boy was still running the show in DC). Only a few guys who I can think of that fit the criteria. Who would you pick: Riverboat Ron Brian Flores Matt Nagy Bill O'Brien Leslie Frazier Ken Wisenhunt Write-in Candidate I had Vance Joseph on there, but I looked it up and his record is so bad it makes all these guys and Saleh look good. Or do Jets fans want to go old-school and pick up Marvin Lewis or Jeff Fisher? That will probably work out....
Nagy is an interesting option. Andy Reid disciple with a winning record who had a terrible offensive cast when he was there.
Our idiot owner probably concluded that since Gase was a disaster we had to hire a defensive coach next, not taking into account the direction the league was moving
I think the horse everyone had beaten for so long had not really died but was never quite forgotten. At the risk of reviving him and getting him back on the track, let us be reminded of "Veep of Football Ops." This team is at a crossroads again, this time it is the crossing of an eight lane highway and a couple of high speed rail lines with no traffic control whatsoever. Once again ownership has demonstrated its inability to control anything related to winning football games. Piecemeal replacement of management and coaching personnel and securing a viable quarterback has resulted in utter failure. If there is one final straw for Johnson to grasp to get his gourmet bacon out of the fire is that it can only be done by getting a truly qualified executive in to oversee football operations. Let Woody and the accountants dabble in concession stands and ugly merchandise but get somebody who can see the big picture from an NFL success point of view to make the right changes on the field. Absent such a change we can only expect to see GMs and coaches replaced periodically, separately or in tandem, without a realistic plan for the future. Hope and wishes don't feed the bulldog - they've "just gotta do better." The Jets need someone who has had proven success and a vision to "where football is going," but for real this time. Only then can the schemes and players be selected who will be the ones to actually make the difference.
I think the whole premise is that Saleh, Hackett, Lazard, Cobb, Zach, and probably 2 or 3 others are handcuffed to Rogers, so if we are replacing them, he is out of the picture--and if he's coming back, we are keeping all of them here.
I agree as well…any real strong GM will want to do his own thing and not come in beholden to anyone…certainly not to an existing HC or player… The only GM candidates who would be fine would be weaker candidates who are just happy to get the chance. Doesn’t mean they couldn’t turn out to be good, but I do think the talent pool is smaller
Exactly-- every time we get to the point where most fans are ready to toss the HC, they want a proven head coach next time, but nobody every wants any of the available candidates, the whole thing is an exercise in trying to lasso a strawman unicorn, but Jets fans just keep holding onto the fantasy.
Every season the Jets take the color out of football for me and it stops being interesting across the board. I think they did that in the Bills game.
Last season they made it until that slide. You're right though, usually I'm looking for things to do in September.
Where is this mythical experienced head coach who is good and also unemployed? I agree the Johnson family sucks, but I see this suggestion every season yet no one can name this coach. Sent from my SM-S906U using Tapatalk
This is true, has been true, and will continue to be true. But who is selecting this VP? I wouldn't trust Woody to even think about it, much less do something about it.
You seem like a Darkside type of guy. Come on over full-time. There's always something to talk about, you would never be bored.
100%. I try and explain this to people, and they say "he knows nothing about football, he only cares about money" as if that doesn't explain EXACTLY how and why it's all him.
