Have to give the new GM 6 yrs minimum for an unnecessary tear down and complete fumbling of the QB position while not fixing the Oline.

So more like 2029. Before repeating the cycle again.

There is only one metric that matters when evaluating GM's.
GM = W--L. St.Joe = 17--44. How much is JD paying you to be part of the NY Jets social media team?

obviously wins and losses are the end goal. but sometimes things are out of people's hands. the roster is way better then it was when he took over. if we could ever go 1 season without an ass ton of injuries maybe we could see what our roster can do.

You didn't answer the question, so I am going to assume you are a paid employee of the NY Jets social media team. And you can't see the obvious. JD == 17-- 44.

I have some sympathy for GMs and HCs - really their success is largely down to who the QB is (just look at Bill without Brady and 101 other examples) - the Jets have never managed to land a good QB in decades and so they are in a perpetual cycle of sucking and being unable to build a team or get any stability

Somewhat but it’s not like any head coach has ever left the Jets and had real success even as a coordinator other than Bowles who had an ultra talented defense down there as a defensive coordinator. And I guess Pete Carroll.

Al Groh, Herm, Mangini, Rex, Gase, etc. Mike Tannenbaum, Idzik, Maccagnan. They all are mostly out of the league quickly or immediately after leaving the Jets.

    We mostly hire duds.

    Sad but true

And honestly, I’d put Bowles in that failed list…he’s terrible. Rode Brady’s coattails and that’s it. He sucks

I agree - a lot of injuries, but even 1st two games the line looked like shit too. When there are only 4 good players on the line, and one of them is out (Tipp didn't play first two, then AVT got injured later) line will suck. At least we are making progress though: there is no longer debate the line sucks. Just why it sucks Before that you were claiming we are like everyone else, since everyone's like sucks. Now we at least agree it sucks more than others. I will tell you what it would suck less if we have Broderick Jones, Dawand Jones, and Ezra Cleveland. But JD didn't feel like getting them. Didn't need Wentz either. When Davis retired, no need to try to get another WR.

If not for getting Rodgers, and the hope that he may actually play and we would have a good QB, by merit JD should be done as a GM. But he will get another year (barely) for the work he did acquiring Rodgers. Even after fucking up everything else on offense and negating Rodgers for this year, and costing us another season.

"but sometimes things are out of people's hands."

Joe Douglas was comfortable with Zach as a backup with a healthy Aaron Rodgers.

Joe Douglas did not make a move at the trade deadline, because of the previous point.

Joe Douglas drafted Will Mcdonald in a WIN NOW year when he could of addressed the offensive side of the ball.

Joe Douglas paid Allen Lazard, Mecole Hardman and Dalvin Cook. Joe Douglas paid Uzomah

The list goes on and on of what Joe Douglas has done as I am sure you're aware.

"the roster is way better than it was when he took over."

How can you say that confidently when the deciding factor for a successful roster is wins/losses. 24-52*** as a GM.

You will point to his stellar draft record right...... oh the person who drafted ZW in the first place.

That's fair, but the issue is just how bad we've been. When was the last time we were even an average team? When was the last time we didn't have a bottom 10 (if not bottom 5 or worse) offense? The best teams all have good QBs, sure, but there are plenty of teams with bad QBs that are at least decent or ok. I can't remember the last time we were even that.

so if you managed a warehouse. and you had a fully capable staff and they all got hurt and production went down it's now your fault?
comments like this make me think nobody here ever managed anything

everyone line does suck according to their fans. the line played pretty solid for a couple of weeks. when we have AVT,tipp,CMG,Tomlinson, Becton. now we are down to just Tipp and becton from that.
Cleveland is a guy who was benched, traded away for a late pick, and is a backup currently. he's also in his final year. it's such a bad take to clamor over him.
broderick jones went before we drafted anyway and really hasn't been that impressive but has good upside for sure
dawand jones has been a beast, but you are talking about a 4th round gem that many teams passed on. we drafted warren later in the 4th. he looked good in his 1st action.

he's made some mistakes for sure. nobody is denying that. all GMs even the best ones make mistakes
If a-rod went down we were fucked regardless, the issues on offense are deeper then just zach. the idea someone would magically come in whos a backup and fix the whole thing is a pipe dream

he took over a team that was pretty devoid of talent. we only have 2 players left from before he was here. Q and CJ. thats it. and Q he extended. he's also added the following
    sauce (draft)
    reed (FA)
    Quincy (Waiver and extended)
    JFM (waiver and extended)
    Huff (UDFA)
    JJ (Draft)
    MC2 (Draft)
    Whitehead (FA)
    Adams (UDFA)
    AVT (Draft)
    Becton (Draft)
    Tippman (Draft)
    CMG (FA)
    Tomlinson (FA)
    GW (Draft)
    Breece (Draft)
    Conklin (FA)
    Ruckert (Draft)
    Rodgers (Trade)

when was the last time prior to this offseason the jets were considered a SB contender? probably 2010. he's built the best team we've had in 13 years. it's not his fault he had to overhaul an entire roster and we suffered too many key injuries.

All GM's don't get 5 years of losing consistently.

SB was always a fantasy- Playoffs were a reality.

If Arod went down(39 year old QB whose had some health issues as of late) If you planned properly, which Joe D clearly didn't. I wholeheartedly disagree with you, this team could have still made the playoffs. That isn't a pipe dream.

his 1st year is a wash. he didn't even have an offseason. he was signed after the draft and FAs. year 2 he had a lame duck head coach and his 1st offseason. he drafted for gase's wants and to give darnold 1 more chance. year 3 is when he started a rebuild. between year 3 and 5 he built a team that on paper was a SB favorite to start the year before injuries piled up.
