This is the equivalent of putting a band aide on an amputation. I expect it to work out about the same as that would work out.
At this point I don't think there's a single good option because there's no other QB to add, the OC isn't changing, and the skill group isn't changing. So sure, why not. At minimum, it sends the right message that playing poorly will get you benched (eventually). I liked his decisiveness in the preseason and then on the first few throws buutt then he morphed into an INT machine, which I fear is his final form
his contract was up in 2 years. we couldn't move up without wasting a lot of cap. they were hoping he'd be a solid backup to rodgers. I highly doubt he was in the plans after 2024
Zach is a still a developmental prospect at QB. Honestly, I would just stash him as the QB3 for a few years and revisit – if WE COULD. He has the requisite athletic gifts, the game just hasn't slowed down for him. He needs plenty of mental reps He honestly has an Alex Smith trajectory to his career. Alex Smith had a terrible completion pct threw like 1 and 2 TDs in 1st and 3rd season, then he had a gap year because of an injury and then became a pretty QB after that. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/S/SmitAl03.htm
Don’t worry, he is probably the backup, and will be back in by the 3rd qtr. because the jets are too stupid to give siemien first team reps
Sadly that would represent considerable improvement for the offense- three scoring drives, one of them for a TD!
Our problems on offense go way beyond Zach sucking. We're in year 13 of a playoff drought... and Tim Boyle ain't saving us. I've stayed away from the Joe Douglas good or bad debate... but this era of ineptitude is squarely on him. Kowtowing to Rodger's wishes was an incredible display of cucked weakness... and a detrimental one at that. Not one good thing has come out of the Rodger signing... not one. Only the Jets could add a HOF QB to their roster and let it ruin the entire organization.
